CHANDLERS WISH is on a distinguished road
Default I'm an Australian!!!!!!

Did that get your attention? haha Yeah I know you know.. Kangaroo and all that.

But, see thing is, I don't know anything about anywhere, any of you are from...

Nadda, Ziltch and probably you know some but not all of what Australia is, offers, beaches, different Cities main cultures etc, etc.

So, I though I would start off this Thread...and find about a bit more about America, England, France, and other names I have absolutely no idea where it is ie) even if it is in America? lol.

So:-

I am Australian
I live in Adelaide.
Adelaide is really a Small Country Town as Cities Goes.
We have the most beautiful old churches
It takes 20 minutes to get anywhere
The sea is at one end, city in the middle and hills at the other end
1 hr's drive away from the city in different directions are wineries
We have interestingly, segregations of different cultures, so Europeans live East, American/Africans few but we have them life North and we have quite a lot of Chinese people also Inner North.
Our City holds a street specifically for the Asian population with restaurants and shops, i love entering and purchasing food from these shops, cheap and of course Asian
There are alot of Italian Restaurants alot, but few Greek, a couple leboneese, mainly Yiros bars takeaway, plenty of Chinese but only a couple of Japanese
Fish and Chips have become more modernised, served in a box
We don't have Wallmart, what ever that is, we have Target and we have Ikea
Bunnings is our major hardware store and Cheap as Chips the main $2 shop, or cheap shopping of various bits of junk as well as some good things
Our beaches are good, not rock filled

And i will continue another time, haha.

Not expecting people to add all of that off course, but maybe what they love about their State?

Something they think may be different than what other Countries have?

And where in the World their State is, would be a good thing...

But I guess seeing as we are all over the World, it could be good to get some insights, you might even have questions like what are the Univercities like over there compared to here for instance...

Anways that's about it for now...

I am American.
I live in Tennessee.
Tennessee is a state with a lot of geographic diversity. (That probably came straight from a TN History textbook for 4th graders.) Depending on what part you live in, it's mountainous, hilly, or flat. I've lived in all three parts, and I don't know which part I like best. I live in an itty-bitty town right now ... and I love it here.
We have churches and banks EVERYWHERE. If there is a new construction project anywhere, 9 to 1 chances are that it's a church or bank.
It takes an hour to get to the interstate ... or a crappy sushi restaurant. It takes 3 hours to get to a big city or a decent sushi restaurant.
The ocean is far, far away.
There are WalMarts everywhere around me, but hardly any grocery stores.
All the international students live in my apartment complex. It always smells like hookah.
This city has an agricultural-themed "Festival" every year. I can't make that stuff up.
There are 3 Mexican Restaurants in this town, two Chinese, and not a single Arby's, for goodness's sake.
No Target or Ikea for miles. I don't even know if there's an Ikea store in all of Tennessee.
I don't think we have a hardware store. We have Walmart. In fact, we hardly need anything else; we have Walmart for everything. That might explain why we have nearly nothing. Sad face!
No beaches, unless you count a really dirty lake I haven't visited.

I'm a Londoner...

I say that rather than Englishman since London is basically it's own country.

There are CCTV cameras everywhere you go. We justify their existance based upon the systematic abuse of alcohol on the weekends, and all of those dam arabs waiting to blow us up. We are a gateway to the world of 1984.

Black BMW's with tinted windows cruise past my house, playing Bangra, or Garage music. I've once seen one of said BMWs with the boot open full of hundreds of applications for housing benefit.

I always smell curries cooking... Most of the time it drives me crazy because I'm hungry.

If you stop someone in the street to ask them where something is, more often than no they'll be worried.

It's a completely showy place, everyone pretending to be someone their not, and the women chase fast cars and money.

You can find any sort of party you want, personally I go to warehouse parties (someone finds an empty warehouse, snips the lock, brings in a massive sound system - party is a go), which are quite funny since by the time you leave in a complete state the morning (afternoon) afterwards, there's usually 10 police cars parked outside, who had arrived to late to stop it.

Nobody will help you if you're in trouble. There's a "it's not my business" philosophy going on.

The second day I moved here I saw two black guys beat the poop out of two asian guys, there's quite a lot of racial / gang violence.

Everything's crazily expensive.

There's lots of stuff to see, museums, exhibitions, blah blah.

..and the above description is why i dont live in London

Im a Welsh girl - that is utter rubbish seeing as i was born in Lancashire (Northern England) - but i'd rather class myself as Welsh than English *waits for the abuse*

I live in a field. I kid you not. The nearest civilisation is a 10 minute drive away, and even then, that hamlet only has a shop, post office, butcher, baker and candlestick maker...

I wouldnt change where i live for anything - the loudest noise that i hear is a cow mooing, the closest i get to pollution is when i light a match.

So, as i was saying, i live in a field, which is surrounded by further fields and a forest and a small river runs through my back garden/field. I look out of my bedroom window every morning and see horses (usually sleeping) and an annoying woodpecker on occassions.

There is a local pub 2 miles away, which is a fair old walk on a rainy evening. The pub itself has horse shoes stuck on the walls and those old brass fixtures that used to attach to carriages that were pulled by horses.(not sure what theyre called) The range of people that you meet in there is phenominal, from old and drunk (but full of wisdom) to young people troubled by their own worries...

The nearest beach is at Aberystwyth, which is where i went to university - 2 hour drive, although you can do it in an hour and a half if youre feeling suicidal . Aberystwyth is hilly and yes, full of sheep. There are a few more things to entertain you here, but its still a place that is stuck in the 50's - theres a pier and far too many pubs to carry out a successful pub crawl...

Oh, and the nearest 'town' which many of you wouldnt class as a town is Hereford and this is famous for its cider making - there are hop fields everywhere in Herefordshire, along with millions of black and white houses. (The black and white house trail is rather famous)

I could go on... but i wont bore you

Tennessee is sweet. Sounds like you live close to Knoxville, Little. I would absolutley love to visit London or Wales or Australia. It would be such a trip.

I live in Cork, Ireland.

Cork is the second largest city in the Republic, after Dublin. (Belfast is the second largest on the island...but Belfast is in Northern Ireland, which is a part of the UK. The Republic of Ireland is NOT part of the UK).
Cork people think they are better than everyone else and think that Cork itself is better than anywhere else. Most despise Dublin.
The true Cork accent can be nearly impossible to understand for foreigners. It doesn't even sound like English most of the time.
Cork has a great nightlife.
Shops in Ireland close at 6:30 in the evenings and there are many still that are not open on Sundays.
Shopping is decent in Cork, but not fabulous. It's often too expensive.
Cork is known as the "Rebel County" because the strongest force/sentiment for independence from England was centered here.
Cork people think they're so different and fabulous that they even refer to the county as "The People's Republic of Cork".
The town of Cobh is located a short drive from Cork city centre and was where the Titanic set off on its fateful voyage.

All that said...I'm actually a dirty foreigner here. I'm from the state of Maryland in the US. I'm here doing a masters and spending time with my Irish boyfriend. I may be booted out of the country in nine months time.

Default Usa, Usa, Usa

I am live in New York, USA
I live in the middle of the state, about 2 hours from NYC- currently. I go into "the city" occasionally though not often. I was born in NJ which is a similar place and nearby state, but only lived there the first year of my life. I live in a fairly small town that is historic. I live near a lot of historical landmarks and towns. I have to drive to get most anywhere I have to go.
NY has a high cost of living....only second to CA in the USA, as far as I know.
We are thinking of moving to the southern USA.
I love this country....and love NY State. It has beautiful countryside and mountains. Unfortunately, we do not have clean Atlantic Ocean shores near Long Island or NJ because of pollution. Our populations are mixed but are mostly white and American born, by majority. We have a growing Spanish-speaking population from various Spanish-speaking countries such as Cuba, Puerto Rico, and Columbia.
In general, I think NY state is a friendly place. NYC is supposed to have a lot of crime, but I think that has decreased over the last several years. I think it depends on where you go and what time of day it is.
