So...I have been asked to give the toast at one of my best friends weddings in March. I love public speaking, not nervous at all about that....but I have a total block on what to say. I want it to be funny, but sentimental as well.
Does anyone have any advice on doing this? What to say, what not to say, etc.... |

Gotcha....I'm thinking of wrapping my toast around their "song". The song tells a story, and I'm thinking of incorporating that in to their relationship. Not literally playing the song, but incorporating some of it's lyrics into my toast. I've also been such a part in their relationship....I knew the first kiss, the first hand hold, the first sex....etc. So that gives me some good material. What do ya think?

Noooooooooo, haha ... Don't mention the first time sex....... Parent? Grandparents? Kids there?
He/she must have done some real funny things around you during that time... If you want people to laugh you need to embarress them but in a way where it's cute. I have a Husky, and a Pomeranian... The best man at my wedding told how he thought the Pom was a cat at first, for instance and everyone laughed, "except me" na i did too. Close your eyes, with a piece of paper next to you and a pen, and take yourself back thinking of all the fun stuff, funny times and see if you can come up with a couple, mix it with love, such as first holding hands so they go aweeee... And, agree with JWB, 4, 5 minutes is enough... Can he dance? You could make a joke about that and how everyone has to leave for 3 minutes when the Bridal waltz comes on for instance... CW

Oh no no...haha...I'd never mention the sex. HEHE. I can see where you'd have thought that with what I wrote, but no no...the WHOLE family will be there including grandparents and kids.
I just meant that surely since I've been a part of so many "milestones" I can come up with something great to say. No sex though, don't worry. We've had some great funny times together...so I'll think of some good stuff. And I'll keep it to 4-5 minutes. Thanks!
