If you reeealllly want to write a book about vampires, it's going to have to be beyond amazing AND have something that sets it apart in order to succeed in today's vampire-saturated market.
Most vampire novels lack plot cohesion, believable characters, and palatability. Obviously I'm not a Twilight fan, but neither was I ever an Anne Rice fan either. Vampire novels are a VERY tired old cliché that best coincide with the "trashy paperback" genre. I'll give you BIG kudos if you can come up with something to freshen the idea.
A good place to start may be reading some "classic" literature and comparing it to the vampire novels. See what disparities you find between them (besides the ones I've already named) and utilize that knowledge in your writing.
