Do this all the time. I'm very aware of the lyrics and messages in music. Drives me nuts to have really catchy music with negative lyrics. There are some songs I won't listen to because they are too negative. Eric Clapton's Cocaine is one - I hate the stuff, it's ruined the lives of several people I know. I won't listen to something that makes it acceptable or "ok".
There is so much music that speaks to me and for me. Love Moody Blues, Shawn Phillips, Enya. You are right sometimes just a line kind of grabs you.

It produces the inexplicable emotions we have, it can change a scene, a mood. Music is everybodys friend. It is universal. It is one language we all speak (besides mathematics). Without music, the world would be a daft, inexsistent black hole.

Ahh yes I've felt it. Though I'm not a huge fan of the song "Tattoo" by Jordan Sparks, the meaning means something to me. Sometimes you can love someone so much that it's like they're tattoo'd (how the heck do u spell that!?) on your heart. Can't remove a tattoo and even if you do, there will always be a trace of the tattoo left. Sort of like certain loves...even if you remove them there's still something in your heart that never totally loses them.

This happens all the time! and I agree with WIld Child about how I wont listen to music with negative messages. Lots of people just listen to the beat of the music and not the words, but to me the words are the most important part.

omg like 4 years ago i was thinking of breaking up with my boyfriend. whilst thinking of that i turned on the radio and i hear: "listen to your heart before you tell him goodbye." WEIRD!!!! so i didnt dump him and weve been married for three years and he is my soulmate
when Hubby left me, it seemed like almost every song was meant for me
