Not phone sex, not texting, but old fashioned on paper love letters. Does anyone get or write them to their partner?? I wanted to post part of one I just got but didn't know if my guy is outdated and didn't want to make him look foolish. To be honest, I get them several times a year, long ones, aside from nice notes in cards. I love them, but for some reason would be a tad more comfortable typing it knowing first he's not the only one

I gave my live with boyfriend a professional photo of me in lingerie (the set he likes best) for his birthday a short time ago. He loved it.

A couple days later there was a brief TV news report about a building near the house he lived in for a few years when he was just a kid. It reminded him of 1 day then and he wrote me a letter about it that ended (for me) like an unusual but sweet love letter:

When I was 10-11 I had no knowledge at all and didn’t know drugs, booze, sex, or anything else even existed. There were no cell phones, no computers, no video games. If you wanted your kid to come home early you went outside and yelled. No kid knew anything AT ALL about sex because parents and TV and the schools never said a word about anything. If you say nothing it doesn’t exist was how adults thought. You were really a kid. You went outside and played all day till dark, only came inside to use the bathroom or eat. Except for Saturday morning cartoons, nobody cared about TV or ever watched it. Parents didn’t know or care where you were as long as you were out of their hair and came home at dark, and no perverts or anything like that existed.

I was developing and started getting unplanned erections. No idea what they were to be used for, no idea how to make them feel even better, and no idea how to make them go away. And had no idea this “thing” was supposed to be for a female.

In the small towns of my area you played in your yard, the neighbor’s yard, or in the street. Nobody ever locked their front door, no matter if they were at home or if they went somewhere. Playing was actual playing: swing from ropes tied to a tree in a yard, ride bicycles, play hide and seek.

This particular day all the kids were in my yard and the next neighbor’s yard doing different stuff. Everyone spread out and moving around doing stuff in the back yards, front yards, beside and in between the houses.

Every house had a shed in the back yard, about the size of a small garage detached from the house. It was storage for lawn mowers, chairs, tools, and so much junk you couldn’t even walk into it. Adults had to take stuff out to get at anything. A kid had crawl and climb over stuff to get something. Adults probably had no clue what was there and crawling around you got totally dirty from junk, oil, grease, dirt, and cobwebs.

The next door neighbor kid came up to me and “Come on, I want to show ya something.” We go in his shed, close the door and turned on the small light. Then we crawled over everything to the far back wall. He opens a box and takes out a flashlight and turns it on. Then opens a magazine and hands me the flashlight and the magazine. First Playboy magazine I ever saw, first naked woman I ever saw and she was pretty.

I remember being instantly erect but still having ZERO idea (ZERO) what to do if she would have appeared by magic (except maybe stare some more). It didn’t even occur to me to want to touch her or anything; I just knew I got aroused staring at her. Not even knowing what intercourse was or where boy/girl body parts went, nothing. Do you know EXACTLY what went through my mind ???? I thought to myself:

“I don’t know why, but she’s the only thing I’ve ever liked more than my bicycle.”

Today I sat here and thought about what it would be like to go back in time to the same place, the same time, and be the same way. And I thought to myself I’d have to take the picture of you that I got for my birthday with me. I’d hide it in the back of OUR shed in a box with a flashlight. I’d look at it whenever I was sure nobody knew. But I’d never share it with any of the other kids. Never. I’d want you all to myself.

    Wow..

That deserves to be published, truly...

It rings so true for us older people (haha), and certainly our parents before us..

It's not the fact that he didn't know what to do with it, it's the memory of how he felt at that time, second to his favourite thing, his bike and then likening that story, visualisation of the past and linking it to his present.

That's priceless, it's not a poem but the most romantic thing I have ever read, very profound.

Glad you shared, you must feel totally awesome, special and blessed to receive that.

    Aw at the bicycle comment!

My husband and I exchange notes occassionally, sometimes e-mails too. I'll write him a sweet e-mail if I'm up late and he's at work (he works 24 hour shifts).

That bicycle comment was so cute...I'm still thinking about it. I love that letter.

I send my boyfriend letters all the time. Mostly e-mails, but every now and the mhe send me an e-mail back, I love it when I get them. I love to know what he is thinking, I usually get one when he has to stay up late working.
This is one I sent him:
I return from our weekend together and can't express how AMAZING it was. It was so hard to leave yet again but knowing I will be in your arms in less then a week makes it seem ok. I am waiting for the day I no longer have to leave you, when those nights in each others arms are not so few and far in between. When those last few hours that you know are with me are not spent with a sorrowful look or undertone. Of all days I wait for that one. The one where we are happy always, where we can see each other when ever and where ever and not worry about others.
The memories that I will carry with me from this weekend can never be matched by anyone. That little smile that you so often see cross my face is often me reliving some of our memories. Let alone just thinking of how happy and real we are. Cinderella has nothing on our Happily ever-after. You have helped me to be able to be myself and be happy and comfortable in a way no one has ever been able to do, you see a side of me that gets hidden from all.
and this is what he sent me back:
I feel the exact same way about us. I really can't wait for the day that we can erase the distance between us permanently. Being with you makes me happy beyond belief, to the point that I can ignore everything else in life and relax completely when i see you. It's as if nothing else in the universe matters. New years is going to be amazing. Just getting to spend more time with you makes it worthwhile. Hope we can stay outa trouble ;D. I'm not sure if we'll be able to if our creativity keeps on this rampage. All the ideas we come up with are tempting, but a lil on the risky side sometimes. but i think that just makes it more fun. I think we were doomed after that night in the hotel on the beach lol. I hope you are enjoying your nap.

I love you more than i can put into words.

    Your man ALWAYS,
    IAN
