Default Everyone mkes me feel like a freak

cause i don't like children. And when I say don't like them I mean seriously hate them. I can't stand to be around them. I wouldn't care tomorrow if my bf's daughter died tomorrow. I'd be sad for my best friend of course cause it would devastate her but that's about it. I have no maternal instinct and don't want children ever. And everyone is always asking me when I'm gonna have children, so when I reply that I don't want any, they are always like what why ever? Am I a freak?

Hate is a pretty powerful emotion to feel towards children who really had no choice in the matter of existing. It's everyone prerogative whether or not to have kids and Malthusians might say terrific, don't add to the population and aid natural selection a bit. What I question is where this emotion of hate and lack of compassion seemingly from not caring whether your friend's child died. There has to be a root cause of it.
It doesn't take maternal instinct to have respect for life. (otherwise fathers all over the world would all care less about their children)

To the other point though I don't feel people should have any judgment about whether someone wants kids of not and certainly have no place directing their emotion toward you when you say you don't. It's no big deal not wanting kids but there's something more to this than just personal feelings of not wanting them.

It's no ones business if you have children or not and if you don't really and truly want them you shouldn't have them. That's very simple. Don't worry so much what others think.

People can think what they want but it's not their business or your decision... it's yours. I like kids, but I have no desire to have any of my own, and neither does my boyfriend so at least we're good on that. My friends with kids are always like "Oh you'll change your mind"... I don't think so. Haha. I have a niece, who I love to little pieces and I spoil her as much as I can. But I'm in no way cut out for motherhood. Some people just aren't. It doesn't affect anyone else's life if you don't have any. You're not a freak by any means.

Back in college my roommate and I would play a word association game: "children" got the response "napalm".

Its OK to dislike children. Going around killing them is generally considered antisocial however <g>

It's your choice whether or not to like kids or have them. I agree, if you don't like them then don't ever have them. I don't think it's nice however to say that you wouldn't care if your bf's daughter died. What would she think if you said that to her? That's pretty hurtful. I don't think she'd be your friend anymore. I certainly wouldn't. That's extremely harsh. Not liking kids doesn't make you a freak however.

Not wanting to have children is not a big deal but I wonder why you say you seriously hate children?

Corey - Napalm sticks to kids! Oh you just made me laugh.

There are tons of people out there who couldn't care one way or another about having their own child, and children annoy the living daylights out of them. My advice to you is to never work in customer service or education, and laugh off the nosy people.
But as others have mentioned ... why the hate for kids? It's very serious to say you wouldn't care if your best friend's kid died, even if you meant it as hyperbole. What do you think that hate stems from?
