Jehovah?

Im not sure if Im just not clicking today but can someone explain to me who or what Jehovah is? Just in very clear lay terms, like you're writing to someone who is super slow in processing information...

I tried to google it but I totally dont understand...

Um - well, not sure what you are looking for, but it is a religion. Jehovah's Witnesses.

Jehova is one name for the Jewish god. There is a long wikipedia article on it. Jehova's Witnesses is a christian group that does a lot of door to door proselytizing.

Jehova can be identified as the god of the Jews, Christians and Muslems, god of Abraham, etc (though the religions use different names)

So basically Jehova = God for some religions.

Isn't that similar to Yahweh in Judaism? Just a name for a god?

That's exactly right. Yahweh = Jehovah.

Jehovah = God.

Jehovah's Witnesses = A religion.

Im a HUGE Jay Z fan but I never put two and two together to see why they call him Hova...A friend of mine went to his show a couple days ago and was telling me all about it, as I was writing this post...

Oh, thanks everyone - Most helpful...I saw Wiki article but maybe out of laziness I totally didnt want to read through...It didnt make much sense to me in the beginning...THANK YOU!

Jay-Z calls himself HOVA because he declared himself the God of rap. I'm sure you could probably Google it and find out if you want more info.

I like some of Jay-Z's songs but I've heard he's Satanic and that he's also a Freemason. I maybe wrong but I heard one of his songs backwards and it says something weird.

Anyways Jehovah is God's name in the Old Testament. I'm not that religious but I am Catholic leaning more towards Hinduism.
