LOL yu aer rite. Just look at some historical documents to see how varied spelling was. It's said that Shakespeare spelled his own name about 30 different ways. Computers don't like that.

LOL......I feel my English has improved over the years of writing so much on the internet and reading alot, but I find internet English totally different from traditional English. First of all 'LOL' and the placement of alot of periods within a paragraph is'nt correct grammar to me,but somehow you can get away with slightly bad English on the net. I notice alot of people who write hardly indent their paragraphs, miss putting apostrophe marks and just the way the structure their sentences is'nt right.
I loove English. Last time I went to school a few years ago I got a A- in my English class

LOL, I know, I read this somewhere recently, but didn't save it so had to make up the words myself...

Basically, it states as long as the first letter and the last letter are correct, then you can jumble the middle and people can still read the sentance with ease, as fast as they normally would, had it been spelt right.

I find them in newspapers, on line, in advertising, it's as if no one really cares or pays attention. There are historians who say that one of the first signs of a declining civilization is the loss of clear word meanings and a deterioration in language usage.
Opps!

That's true. I read about this a few years back. I can't remember who did the study though. I thought it was pretty cool. Thanks for reminding me.

The brain is an amazing thing, that it can process those jumbled letters and easily make words of them as long as just a couple letters are in their correct positions.
But I think it only works for experienced readers: I showed a sentence like that to my 12-year-old son recently, and he couldn't understand a bit of it.

And now y'all have made me self-conscious about my grammar and spelling!
I think it's unfortunate, but to me some people who can't seem to spell anything right - even though this site has a built-in spell-checker - just seem slightly illiterate. And not in a good way!
