Ok so in school I'm taking this class called peer leadership. It's a group of selected seniors (we had interviews last year) that get together every day as a class and every friday during our study hall period we mentor a group of 14 freshmen. We help them adjust to school and tell them our experiences and stuff. We are in partnerships of two or three and each partnership has 14 freshmen that we selected completely randomly. It's how our school gets in character education.

Every week we have a new topic which we find out on monday and then do activities all week and plan our friday. Well this week our topic is "The differences between guys and girls" Like when it comes to certain situations and such. We played this really cool game called "Who has it harder" and I wanted to see what people on here said ...

Ok so who do you think has it harder (male, female, or equally both) when it comes to:

1. parents (being diciplined, being able to get away with things, etc.)

2. chores

3. the workplace/searching for a job

4. dating

Don't forget to put why you chose what you chose.

It's really cool to see everyone's reasoning and opinions. It's not always all the girls think that they have it harder and all the guys think that they have it harder.

1. parents (being diciplined, being able to get away with things, etc.)

Even though this wasn't the case in my experience, I would say that it is equal. It really depends on the parents upbringing, I think. If your mother's parents were very hard on her and yet not her brother she may be more likely to be hard on her son (your brother) or depending on how she turned out through the experience vs how her brother turned out, you. In my house one of my brother's could always make my mother laugh so he got away with a lot.

2. chores

Again, I think that this is equal. A son (your brother) may have to do the harder chores such as mowing the lawn but I think that they are equally distributed. He may mow the lawn and you may do the laundry or the dishes. This is also based upon age as well. If you are the younger sibling (by more than a couple of years) I would suspect that the older sibling would have the harder chores because they are better equipped to do them.

3. the workplace/searching for a job

Hmm... This is tough for me. It depends on the job I suppose. This is going to sound very sexist but... If a tall, strong man applied for a job in the Labor Industry vs a small petite woman I would assume (even if she has more skill) that the man would get the job. Over all, I can't really say though. I'm not sure who has it harder.

4. dating

I think that dating has really changed with the times. Women are now asking men to go out on dates whereas before the man was always supposed to ask the woman. I think that women do have it hard in the looks department. (And I may be totally off but in my experience which is what I am basing this off of) I've seen very unattractive men with very beautiful women and I seldom see it the other way around. It's not because he has a lot of money or he buys her whatever she wants but I think that women are easier on the male species when it comes to looks. If you have a great personality I think women are more likely to look over physical flaws. (Though I have met my fair share of women who aren't) I myself have dated the most gorgeous jerks with no personality (and a couple nice ones) but have also dated average looking men who are just amazing people. So... In this particular case, based on experience of what I've seen, women have it harder.

Do you mean being a parent? In which case I would say, female. Why? Because generally they are the one that deals with the children most of each day and usually get Dad to step in when he gets home with a problem.. So the Mother always looks like a Witch.

2. chores

Men have stepped up here, as women work, but in general terms again Women, because it's in their nature to nurture therefore, cook, fold his socks haha.



3. the workplace/searching for a job

Here I say Men... Because, women have "benefits" they are generally the better sales person (sorry), they are generally picked out more in the hospitality industry, gaming, etc, and can be more multi tasked, where as men generally have a career that they choose and therefore, only have that at their fingertips to obtain work.

4. dating

Men.. There are always more single women than men for some reason, at least on dating sites, and men have a hard time proving he's better and the one. Women have more opportunity to take their pick "and settle" silly women...

1& 2) Okay on Parents & then Chores, etc--I'd guess pretty equal. I think each sex might have it easier with one parent or the other, but I'd say although chores may be different on ability, I wouldn't think one would be less disciplined or assigned fewer chores solely on the basis of sex.

3) I'd say that it depends on the job. I hate to say it I think honestly sometimes (depending on the job), it matters a lot more whether your personable and attractive (there have been studies) than whether you are male or female. I'd agree that many more physical jobs might be predisposed for men, but same goes with jobs (like childcare) for women.

4) I'd say men still have it harder. Regardless of the change in times, men still have a lot more initial rejection. And I'm an old-fashioned girl, so starting out, I totally expect my man to pay for dates. Any given month, I am usually asked out a few times by someone whether I am dating or not. I don't feel like men have that.
