Going as the Grinch? I didn't know that was considered a costume when it came to you. I just figured that's who you are.

I have several and have given some away. I have a red wool cloak, I have a some underdresses that are unbleached muslin, three overdresses and some bodices. I also have a couple of girdles (type of belt, not elastic underwear) a script, which is sort of a cross between a purse and fanny pack - they were also called a wallet, this fastens to the girdle and shoon (leather shoe, kind of mocasin like). Oh and some cloak pins - they are never really heavy duty enough. At one time I considered getting to making costumes to sell and got a bunch of art books of paintings of the time, to see what was worn and found a really interesting book called, Life in Chaucer's England. Of course Chaucer was somewhat before the Renassiance, but it has everything; recipes, life styles, games, and detailed info on how they made their clothing.

Really it was terrible time in history - at least for women. The so called dark ages were more equitable. But it's fun to do the fair as a fantasy version of the time.
