Default Anyone had this problem??

Hey gals, was going to sleep last night and discovered a lump in my left breast. I am not too good about self exams, but this area kind of has been "itchy" feeling lately. I just figured it was dry skin due to the cold winter. Well, this time I noticed a pea sized lump just below the skin near the aereola. I went to the bathroom to look at it in the mirror. I kind of squeezed it and this puss seeped out! I know, yuck! THe area is tender and feels warmer than the rest of me. The lump seems a bit smaller now and I was wondering if maybe it was some sort of duct infection or something. I turn 40 in march and my Mom was a breast cancer survivor. I've had 3 mammographies so far. I plan on calling my doctor on Monday even though I am due for my annual exam in two weeks. Has anyone ever had this happen. Just curious. Help!!

Hi Lisaswims!
I haven't had this happen but my mother is also a breast cancer survivor so I wanted to respond to you and say don't delay in getting this area checked out. I have heard of women getting infections in there milk ducts and the area becomes red and warm to touch but with your mothers history please get this looked at ASAP and keep us updated on how your visit goes with the doctor.

I have had several experiences like the one mention. I am 28 and had my first lump about 2 years ago. It was on the side of my breast and was warm to the touch. After a few days it got bigger, it never came to a head but just like a pore opened and began to leak pus. I had that happen 4 time in the year to follow and was eventually told that caffine can cause cysts like this. I gave up caffine and have not had one since.
