I was just thinking about this the other day. The fact that I am still carrying around my bad genetic code.

    I was 130 pounds......really thin,stupid, with bad teeth.

I would have remained so had I not had parents and money to make me 180 pounds at 10% bodyfat, good teeth, in college working on a Bachelors in :Advanced Radiographic Science",working 30 hours a week.......

However, there is a pretty high probability that my kids(if I have them) might start out like I did.....then I will help them succeed....then they will help thier kids succeed. Hence, passing on the faulty genetic code over generations....

I mentioned the other day to a guy in the gym that I was ex special ed and couldnt add, subtract(serious), or read at age 12.He brought up that,"Had it not been for your parents you would not have the opprotunity to pass on your genes."

He is right!!!! At around age 30, I will be even more muscular and be making 30 bucks an hour working with Magnetic Resolution Imaging. No can tell I used to be autistic anymore either! So, is it ethical for me to have kids or should I adopt?

GG, you need to go and raise your self esteem and become more confident. That's the key to attracting people toward you, as friends, as lovers, whatever.

No one likes a guy who is down about himself all the time.

I'm trying to do you a favor by saying this. Hun all of your posts thus far have been extremely negative.

We are both science students, so lets approach this on a scientific basis. Factor in allelic variation, Mendel's Laws, gene recombination, and differing phenotypes and you have no issue to worry about. So what if your child has slightly slower learning, you are proof that things like that can be overcome. Life sucks and there will always be something that is not going to go so great but it is what you make it. There is no reason for you to think that you should not have kids.

Repeatedly people who have determination, persistance and a desire succeed, do. Your parents helped you on the path to becoming the best you can be, if you have children you will help them on the path to becoming the best they can be. That's what good parents to.

You are aware, caring, concerned and conscenious, why would you think there is anything wrong with you? Many young people in their early teens are awkward, less than attractive and not very focued. What makes you think you were so very unusual in that?

My son was functionally deaf until after the age of 4, from infancy he wouldn't tollerate anyone outside of family and a few select freinds, to even look at him- he would hide his face. His teeth were really crooked. I never considered that he would do less than he has done. At 16 he is a straight A student in AP chemistry, History and English, planning to add AP Physics next year. Braces have given him beautiful teeth, a change of diet and speech therapy have allowed to hear exceptionally well and to speak as clearly as if was never deaf. He has many friends. He lifts weights 5 days a week, plays soccer and runs mid distance track. Is all that "cheating" somehow because he started off with a few strikes against him? Absolutely not! It's called maturing, growing up and taking advantage of the opportunites we have.

You should be proud of yourself and greatful to have had parents who cared enough to help you become the young man that you are. Hold your head high, your shoulders back and keep up the good work.
