Special gift suggestions....
My mom turns 50 this year and I want to do something special for her. Unique, I guess, for a woman who has everything and if she doesn't she'd get it. So, therefore, she's a pain to buy for. She's my best friend and I cherish her more than anybody could ever imagine, but I'm at a loss of what to get her.
I'm up for any kind of suggestions, something I have to buy, something I have to make, etc....

Well I hit that mark a couple years ago. My dear sisters surprised me with a formal champagne tea at the Brown Palace (a high end historical hotel) It was lovely, happy birthday played on a full sized grand piano. Find someplace special and give her a memory she will cherish far more than "stuff".

maybe take some of your favorite family photos, enlarge them and make a special album for her. enclose handwritten notes or poetry. make the photos all black and white copies. i'm doing that right now for my grandpa's birthday. enlarging them to 8x10's. it's fun to do. or if you have enough time you could have a special quilt made. some people have photos transferred to material for that. the quilt makes an unique gift, and something to hand down.

What me, bro and sis decided to do was to give her one of those 'gift expereinces'. we ended up buying her a gift expereince of driving a Lambourghini around a race track. She had always wanted to drive a Lambourghini, so the gift was perfect for her - and perfect for her 50th.
you can get absolute tonnes of random and unique gift expereinces. We found this one from moonpig.com - they may still have those kind of gifts.

I like the photo with " My best friend" on it, or a saying that says, My Mother, My Best Friend, My confident.. something that touches her.

Thanks for the suggestions ladies, they are really good and have given me some great ideas.
I do have a lot to work with, she splits her time between the east coast and west coast, so I could do something here or there. I'm just not too creative when it comes to things like this, plus like I said, whatever I do, I want it to be special.
