Such is the world we live in. Yes, we've come a long long way, but, as long as women are the "nurturers", I think we will always have more on our plate even while working full time, outside of the home.
This is both funny and sad...
Unfortunate though, because much of this still happens to a degree (maybe not as extreme as your list, but the idea it stems from is still there).
What woman hasn't at some point kept their feelings inside so they don't start complaining the instant he walks in the door?
How many women here are responsible for preparing, serving, and cleaning up for breakfast lunch and dinner (even though both work full time)?
And I know personally, that I ask the bf every single day how his day was, what happened, and let him go on for as long as he likes while I listen intently, ask questions, and respond... without so much as a "well enough about me.. so how was your day, hun?"
....ah, yes. Times sure have changed.
Most of the shadows of this life are caused by our standing in our own sunshine.

OOoo, Sorry Lana, I should've assumed you had already posted this considering we seem to think along the same lines (except you're usually a few steps ahead!) LOL!!

I merged these, guesss I should have made a note. I liked this thread an was glad to have a change to revive it. Some of us grew up with this thinking and were schooled in it. Bleh.

My ex fiance's mother had quite a similar mentality....which made living up to his expectations practically impossible. Except, no wait.....he wanted me to be like her, but he also wanted me to hold down a paying job (which she didn't).
There are still men even today that still truly feel this is what a womans role is. I know a guy who has been through 4 wives and most ended because they didn't take care of him like he wanted. One had a canoeing hobby which didn't take up much of her time, but when it did, if it interfered with his hot meal for the evening, he was livid.
Another example is my "friend" I posted about yesterday that got back with her husband after filing for divorce. Even though he lived in their home for years before they married, SOON as they got married, he expected all the housework and chores to be hers. He'd pick up after himself....but when it came to cooking, laundry, scrubbing floors and toilets, etc...those became her "duties as a wife". Didn't matter that they were both working full time, and she was also going to college. They were her duties.
The odd part is that back then, women were not well respected....yet they did ALL these things...literally jumped through hoops to take care of their families and make EVERYONE happy and doing that was supposed to be enough to make them happy. Shesh. Thankful to be in a much different world now.
