Hello ladies. I wanted it to know what kind of music do you listen to while you are pregnant? My wife wants the baby to listen to music. So when he or she is born. My wife wants the baby to be smart. She believes that sort of thing. Do you know any kids music that I can download for my wife to listen too. Thanks. No Hip hop. Just some normal and calm kids music. Well anyways thanks. Oh by the way my wife is 2 months old.

Your wife is 2 months old? You bugger you...

I too sort of believe that this sort of thing would help. If not the baby directly, certainly the mother.

Definitely go for some beautiful classical pieces. Chopin. Mozart. Some lesser known ones... There really is some beautiful music out there.

You don't need current "kid's" music, like Miley Cyrus or whatever. What good would that do? Do you think the growing fetus really cares about current pop culture trends?

LMAO poor kid would probably be born with an attitude. 'Oh. My. Gawd. It was, like, totally cramped and dark in there. My iPhone totally couldn't get a good signal. Do you know it takes, like, forever, for Netflix to stream High School Musical in a uterus? Gawd! I was, like, nine months in that Guantanamo Bay type thing and stuff, and not once was I able to get, like, a many or pedi. I'm so not ever doing that again! Like, whatever.'

In one of your other posts you mentioned that your wife is from China. Ask your wife what she likes. Classical Chinese music would be as good as western music and better if your wife likes it better. Further, your wife will play music she likes more than music she isn't interested in. The baby will pick up on your wife's moods and activity when the music is playing.

I played classical music with both my pregnancies. Yep, headphones on the belly and everything. It was soothing to me too. However, we listen to a lot of music and had music on pretty much throughout the entire pregnancies. The normal everyday music that we listened too, turned up in our house and cars. For some reason always calmed the kicking and punching that was going on in there.

And you know, not sure if this has anything to do with it, both my kids can sleep through ANYTHING. We always made it a point not to tip toe around them and their nap times, life went on as usual for us, but they both are heavy sleepers.

She listen to the Chinese music more than American music. She has only been here for 7 months. I'm trying to get her to understand English better so I can talk to her better. My Chinese isn't that good either. I was born in the U.S. So I only pick up what my grandmother taught me.

Learning a language as an adult is difficult. My wife is from Thailand, and after 20 years in the US, only speaks broken English. I took Thai lessons for 10 years at a Thai temple and speak passable Thai. You could help with the communications by making an effort to learn a Chinese dialect that your wife speaks. Try to find group lessons at temples and other Chinese social organizations. Sometimes a local school district will have a Chinese dialect as an adult education class. Being able to speak a dialect that others can understand will be very useful if you travel in China. I have traveled extensively in Thailand and enjoy conversations with locals almost anywhere.

I've my self have never had kids . . .
But I remember when my mom was pregnant with her second child, she would always let the stomach listen to classical music...
She herself likes piano, so that's what she would make the baby listen.

To be honest the kid has actual good musical talent... well potential!

It doesn't have to be classical music. It can be whatever kind of music she likes that is calming and soothing to the baby.
When my belly gets big enough for a pair of ear phones, it's going to be Pink Floyd coming out of them.

Studies have found that certain types of music affect intelligence. Beethoven has been found particularly effective. The uterus is not a silent place the mother's heatbeat and breathing are ever present. The fetus cannot actually hear until the 7th month of development but I'm sure vibration and sound still have an effect as they can be felt as well as heard.

Infants with heart or breathing problems can often be regulated when keot in contact parent's body because the adult's heartbeat affects them. Most Native American music has an honor beat - which is essentially the heartbeat mirrored by the drum. It has a powerful effect and the heart will sychonize with it. I read an article along these lines that music with a beat that is dischordinant with the heart beat can cause problems. The heart beats, lub dub, lub dub. If music is, for example, dub dub lub, it can actually affect people heartbeat and cause problems. So the loud thumping, heavy bass, some what dischordinant stuff is not a good idea.

Classical Chinese music, classical symphony, the softer rock, more melodious music is great.
