Tell them you are considering the options but are focused on study right now. You never know when someone may toss up an idea that really hits home for you.
I have been in law school for three years now. I have one more year because I had to attend part time due to working. I should be graduating in about a year and I am absolutely terrified.... More and more people are asking if I plan to stay in the city I'm in now, what kind of law I want to practice, etc... I've figured out what I don't want to do mostly, but still am not sure what I do want to do, what I am capable of doing, etc...
Sometimes I just want to tell people to stop asking but it has just gotten really common. When I say I'm not sure people give me this look like "um, you're graduating in a year." and I just want to scream because...I KNOW!!
I feel like a lot of it is going to come down to luck, who I meet over the next year, and what is available (due to the poor economy)... But what do I do till then? Is it rude to tell people I don't want to talk about it?

"There are so many options, I could take on a few of them, all I know is I'm going to be awesome"...
Comes to mind
Law is complexed. Seeing as your on this Forum, "helping" Women, it may very well be that you will go into Family Law. You've been here a while and answer alot of posts
I always wanted to do phsycology, did a little of it. And, I guess here, I am free to offer my "thoughts" on the hows, obsticles, believe and have faith and get out there and do it.
Take one topic each fortnight. Google it, read up on it, see if you fit into that if you have better answers, the answers and want to give and answer to that subject, if not, move onto the next subject in law until you find one that goes "cha ching" that's it.. That is the one that interests me.
In the meantime, remember " I'm going to be an awesome lawyer, doesn't matter"..

Do we not realise that in order to find a soul

if truth were to be told.
Like everything in life that's hard to achieve
you must believe!
Stay calm and trust that things will work out right for you. There will be changes, but everyone goes through these. Just because you can't see the future yet it doesn't mean it isn't there for you. best wishes x
OK, I'll be the bad guy here. Things won't necessarily just work out. This is actually a very important time near the start of your career. Decisions you make now will have long lasting effects on your life. I'm not saying that you can't recover from a bad decision, but a good one will benefit you a lot.
Now IS the time to start thinking seriously about what you want to do when you graduate. Maybe the economics won't support your decision yet - but it will tell you which direction to start heading.
how about the truth?
what's wrong with that?

oh hun, the truth is never complicated. it's actually the easiest thing to do!
now getting us to say it is sometimes hard. It's like doing the right thing, sometimes hard to start doing, always the easiest when we finally get to doing it.
how about
"I am still am not sure what I do want to do exactly" and leave it at that?
yeah people are gonna still ask some questions, but if it isnt about that, it'll be about something else anyway.
Some people will NEVER get it.
You haven't finished course work and there's an internship or two to be done. Once that happens you may have a better understanding of what area you'd like to concentrate.
You may have an idea or two. I'm not sure just yet but "blank" and "blank" seem interesting right now.
