I love the name Kai
Hello,
I am a 25 year old male who has just moved into the city to start a professional career in finance. I had a very rough upbringing and I have had to work extremely hard to get where I am. The only thing left to do now is to legally change my name.
Unfortunately I do not associate myself with my family and I would like to change both my first and last name. My name at the moment is Daniel Williams. Every time I hear it unpleasant memories immediately flood my mind.
I know this may sound over the top, but I figure if I am going to change my name I might as well change it to something that women find appealing. I am looking for something unique and non generic. I have good looks if I may say so myself, but growing up I didn't work very hard or take care of my body. Today I am successful financially and working out has become a hobby of mine. Now I need the perfect name to start a new chapter in my life.
So far two first names that I have been thinking about are Tristan and Jordan.
I haven't thought of any last names.
Any suggestions or thoughts would be awesome! Either first, last or both names.
Thank you ladies. You are all beautiful in your own way. I love you all.
I love the name Kai
I like both of your names.....
What type of last name are you looking for? Something common, unique?
Something unique but a name that sounds common or simple but doesn't belong to many people would be fine as well. Thanks for the response.
Never heard Kai before. Will have to add it to the list of considerations.
Wonderful idea.
In many Native American traditions, a person might have different names as they grew and developed as a person.
One of my favorite authors, Iyanla Vanzant, had an awful childhood and early adulthood and changed her names to reflect the woman she became.
When you choose a name it should have meaning for you and reflect something about yourself, who you are or want to be. There are a number of books that give the origins and meanings of names. Why not get one (the library should have several) and see what reflects you best?

To me, Since i've known females named both tristin and jordan... i think of them more feminine names than masculine... but they do go either way of course. Since you are picking last name why not pick the last name of someone you admire, a president... a scientist ... an inventor... a sports hero...
Last names like Edison, or kennedy...
Although you're leaving your old life behind... one day when you meet your signficant other and bare your soul and share this beautiful journey and changing your name -- I think it would be nice if you had a good story of how you went about choosing that name...
Maybe someone that is influencial to your life, or someone from your past that played a pivotal role (I know you said your past wasn't happy but maybe there was one person that gave you a fond memory).
I think it will make you way more exciting and deep if you pick this name based on something personal to you, something that means something relevent to your life than just something that is flashy like a porn star name![]()
I also love wildchilds idea of looking up some characteristics that you find relate to you and look for names that mean something similiar.

Scars remind us of where we've been...they don't have to dictate where we're going.
Having two boys, I have had the chance to think of a lot of boy names. I'm a fan of short male names, mostly one syllable names, a couple of two syllable names. I think short names are strong and masculine, if it is a longer one, I like something that can be shortened to one syllable.
Cole, Colt, Gage, Landon, Noah, Micah, Jake, Chase, Colby, Luke, Kade, Trey and Cameron (Cam).
That's some of the boy names that I've always loved.

I have always liked the J names...James, Jason, Jayden, Jeremy, Jordan, Jefferey, Jolan, and so on.
There are those who believe that dictionaries should not merely reflect the times but also protect English from the mindless assaults of the trendy.
Kai can also be spelled Kaj with the same pronunciation and is Danish in origin.
