UGH - I know! Olive oil is so darn expensive! I cringe every time I have to buy it from the store.

Me too! I spend 10mins trying to find the cheapest bottle they have got and even then the store brand is about £3/$5

I only use about half a cm of oil in a frying pan to fry steak/meat/chicken
That's still too much lol. You need maybe a capful, even half that because the meat will just soak up the oil instead of using it to cook. Your only looking to lightly coat the side of the meat that you fry. And technically you need no oil if you are using a non-stick pan.

It is a huge frying pan though, its not non stick. I can cook two 500g rump steaks in it, so you can imagine the size of it lol. Besides, I use the sauce from the frying pan on the chips. Bad I know! But it is SO tasty Only a little tiny bit of sauce though!! A very little bit, maybe a teaspoon.

Actually the sauce is the best, if you have enough put it all into a measuring cup and let the fat rise to the top forming two distinct layers then pour the juice out. It will be pure flavor without the grease.
