    Leave them in the closet.

They mess up your feet, pelvis and back - totally bad for you.

Wear a proper size? Insert the Dr. Scholl's heel insoles? I don't know.

Make sure they fit, not too tight... especially not around the toes , and not too loose (especially in the back). If they are new, wear them around the house for a couple days before going out in them to break them in a bit. Use platforms instead of steep dropping ones and wear chunky heels instead of stillettos.. they provide more support and are more comfortable. Heels take some getting use to, the longer you wear them the more your feet become accustomed to being in that position. I wear heels so much that when i wear flats they sometimes hurt my feet because they don't have the arch support I'm use to from my heels.

Like WC said, they aren't the best thing for your body, so you shouldn't wear them for a long walk or standing for long periods of time, but if you are going somewhere you get to sit a lot, like the office or a nice dinner... that shouldn't be so bad I don't think.
Scars remind us of where we've been...they don't have to dictate where we're going.

Got to agree with wildchild on this one. I and the men I know prefer women in comfortable shoes.

HD and every other woman who wears heels taller than two inches

I couldn't believe it, after reading this and other threads (I think) on the subject, I just happened to sit down in front of the idiot box...er...TV and turned on the doctor Ahhhhhhz show. Please don't take my word/opinion about it, don't take WC's opinion, don't even take rcoreyus opinon about it. Go to his site and look for the subject matter...be sure to look for subject matter high heels and arthritis !

There's a nice four and a half minute video based on scientific evidence supporting what a lot of us already know.... High heels cause all sorts of problems and should not be worn.

    I love Dr. Oz

Everyone has given the best advice. For me I've found that it's hard to find comfortable flats that look good with a pant suit or skirt suit for work. I wear heels every day that I work, but fortunately I do most of it while sitting down. I agree that they are not good for your feet, back, etc etc, but if you must wear do NOT wear them for things like shopping or other instances were you'll be walking and moving around alot. One night a few years ago I was at Coyote Ugly and got pulled up on the bar. I ended up dancing for 3 or 4 hours....in heeled boots. A few of my toes had numb spots on them for weeks afterwards. = Not good.

BD that's nerve damage - really not good. Thinking that flats don't look good is just conditioning. There is an increasing variety of really cute flats available. Have you looked at Tom's? Its a good cause too, you can be self righteous about them.

Don't wear heels in the first place. What's the point?
