I can't answer your questions since I've never been married, but just wanted to say CONGRATS!!![]()
I am very excited, except for a few things I am done planning the wedding. The honeymoon is booked, 6 days in Disney World (don't judge lol it's my *Dream*).
So what should I expect the day of the wedding and the last few days before. What should I be prepared for? What sort of emergency kit should I bring along? I am not the type to go crazy over little things but I do want things to flow as well as possible. I have no planner and am relying on friends and family for a lot of things.
Part of the wedding will be inside and part will be outside. If it rains I will be upset though because I will have to quickly for a plan B. My venue is too small to do both wedding and reception in (yea I should have considered that earlier) I checked the 10 day weather forcast and it will be raining that tue, wed, and thu before my sunday wedding. It's to soon to check the fri, sat, and sun forcast.
Is there any truth to the 'wedding jitters' thing?
Anyway I really wanted to ask all of you about your experiences on you wedding day and what crazy things happened (so I can be prepared). Funny stoires are welcome as well![]()

How can you see where you're going if you spend your whole life looking over your shoulder? Naughty Ninja
Thanks

Congrats. It sounds like you are in a good place (planning done) and have a good attitude.
I just want to remind you to "enjoy" the wedding day. Everything has been planned so just go with the flow. Whatever little things happen that may not have been planned, don't sweat it. Throughout the day, pause and take it in because the day can go by in a blur. It is really nice to have a video, professional and/or amatuer, so you can go back and see it all. The video is also nice to see years from now if you want to reminisce or see who was at your wedding.
My wedding ceremony started late. One of our readers was stuck in traffic. The bride's zipper on the wedding dress was stuck so the entire bridal party was struggling to unzip it open. The groom's side was even more panicked because part of my tux didn't make it to the wedding venue - important items were left at my mother-in-law's house. For me, nerves were spent on those "issues" so once we resolved them and the ceremony started, the rest was smooth sailing.
Have a great wedding and honeymoon! Lots of newlyweds at Disney. I see them wearing the bride and groom mickey ears! I recommend making a reservation for a nice dinner at California Grill where you can watch the fireworks over Magic Kingdom either from your dinner table or from the roof deck.
Congratulations and good luck on your wedding.
My wedding was upcountry in Thailand. I had never been to a Thai wedding of any type, so I didn't really know what to expect and since my language skills were no good at that time, it was an adventure. Things started the afternoon prior to the wedding as guests started arriving and the tents and tables were set up. People were cooking and preparing things.
Things really got going when the alcohol arrived in a plastic bag in a cardboard box - about 4 gallons. Taxes - what taxes, it was smuggled hooch, the local equivalent to white lightning. Of course all of the male guests wanted to drink with the groom. About 10 pm my wife-to-be came out and made sure that I got back to the hotel room. I have a theory that they drink with the groom until he is drunk so the groom cannot possibly run away.
The next day things started early, with a procession full of singing and dancing for the groom that went to the house that the marriage would take place in. My wife's sister ritually washed my feet before I entered and we then received a blessing from 4 monks. Afterward, a wedding speaker preformed the bonding ritual. There was eating and breaks in between parts of the ceremony. There was well wishing by the guests and tying of string and money around both my wife's and my wrists. More eating and pictures along with dancing. Finally after all of the ceremonies we were given time together in a room with a closed door.
I doubt your wedding will be similar in many ways, but the underlying ideals will be similar, but not the same.
Hoops, I certainly expect something to go wrong, Murphy's Law right? But I am hoping that my bridal party and freinds can help out in any jam![]()
JNS, That seems like a lot of fun. No my wedding will be nothing like that. But thanks for the story, it sounds very nice.
