Whether or not he should open a door for me is up to him. I can think of no reason to get mad if he does.

Zen is more of an attitude than a belief.

I love it if a man holds the door for me, opens a car door, or helps with my coat. Men need positive ways to use their strength and its good to have reasons to express your appreciation for it.

Ooh i like it if a man holds a door open for me, i've had men help me carry things if my arms were full, it's a show of good manners..

I've gotten yelled at before because I held the door open for a woman. "Believe it or not, but these days women can open their own doors!" There is a difference between doing something because you think the other person is incapable of doing it themselves and doing it just because you think it's just a nice gesture, but I guess it's a difference that's lost on some people.

Acts of kindness goes both ways, not just man to woman (or, at least it should). I always go out of my way to be kind and courteous to people (holding doors open, offering a helping hand, etc.). It takes little effort and can make someone's day, and makes you feel good as well.

Indeed, holding a door or helping someone carry something is only exercising common courtesy, we should all do more of it..
