so mega millions here is a crazy amount of of money 242million, so I was thinking if I won that first thing I'd go do is drive a few towns down and try to buy the Amitville Horror house it just sold for over a mill so yeah so would buy that, get a dodge challenger, a bull terrier, open a animal shelter and give to animal charities.
So what would you do?
Dead animals don't equal fashion it equals cruelty
I would also help my family out with mortgages and different financial obligations.
Dead animals don't equal fashion it equals cruelty
After tax with 242mil? That is like 7.5mil a year for 20 some years, can definitely live off of that lol. I would first buy a ton of GICs or whatever the relatively high investment accounts you can buy at 7mil a year and live off the interest. I would buy a nice bungalow with all the fancy fixins, I don't need a two story monster of a home at 22 lol. Then I would get my lovely BMW and a bunch of toys like quads and skidoos. Other than the material things which I would buy right away just to get it out of the way, I would donate many millions. But only to select places otherwise you get the sob stories from people half way around the world looking to cash in on your winnings, sorry won't happen keep your letters to yourself. Donations would go the SPCA animal shelter, Alzheimer's research, Stollery Children's Hospital (said to be the #1 children's hospital in Canada), and whatever other charities I see fit.
There are those who believe that dictionaries should not merely reflect the times but also protect English from the mindless assaults of the trendy.
It would be a miracle, (literally) since i don't play it! Who am i to sneer at a freebee..
However, if i were to play and win, (fat chance)lol .. I would take the
lump sum option. (do they still offer that..?) And give to my kids, and family..
Then a few select charities i believe in, and invest the rest for future need/use...
I am blessed beyond belief now.
Sure it's fun to talk big and think big and desire to buy all of the material things so many professional athlete types do when they come into big, big money...for about ten minutes! I'd like to be really famous and known around the world too....for about ten minutes!
My thoughts immediately go to those less fortunate than I and there are tens of millions of them out there. Do we have any idea the impact, even ten percent of the after tax money, could do to impact thousands of lives for the better? An Example: A mosquito net to prevent a family from getting Maleria (and dying from it) costs $15.00 U.S. $15.00 U.S. !!! A fresh water well large enough and deep enough to serve the needs of an entire village of people is about $700.00 U.S.
After paying my first taxes, of roughly fifty percent, I'd set up a foundation to impact the world in a positive manner AFTER I do that, I would set up trusts for each one of my children to help pay for their higher educations, perhaps contribute to a down payment for each of their first homes, etc.
When I talk about children, I include the four that aren't mine....yet!
It wouldn't be all about Coach handbags, Chanel sunglasses and Ugg boots, I can tell you that....
Spend money on me and mine or spend money to help improve the lives of thousands of strangers (both here and abroad)? Pretty easy decision if you ask me....
1.) Help family
2.) Move south - Buy land and build a ranch for children. I would foster as many as the state would allow.
Before you talk about what you want ~ Be happy with what you have
Spend it all up on Meeeeeee !!!![]()
From seeing this thread, I just thought I'd share my story..
I never was one for doing the lotto and had no big interest in it, but one time, last year, I did it.
We were sitting in the kitchen and I had checked on the internet for the numbers I had missed earlier on tv.
Suddenly I was running, jumping and screaming about the place because I had 5 out of 6 numbers!! Shouting "I won the lotto, I won the lotto".
Only to realise after double checking, the lotto numbers were last weeks and had not been updated.![]()
My excitment of winning 850,000 was quickly damped and so to speak, I have never done the lotto since!!
Live Like There's No Tomorrow, Laugh Until The Pain Goes Away, And Love Like Nothing Else In The World Matters.♥.
Move closer into the mountains, big ranch, lots of land.
A great majority of it would go into my mutual funds.
Charity - Dog shelters, medical research, etc...
...and of course my entire family would be taken care of for life.
