    Default Dog sitting

My brother in law went to Las Vegas for the weekend. His usual dog sitter was unavailable so he asked us to dog sit.

We picked up the dog at the BIL's house, he put him in a dog carrier and said he likes to sleep in there with the door removed. He is a 12 year old pug, one of the ugliest dogs I have ever seen. On the way home with the dog in his carrier in the back seat, I suddenly smelled the most terrible gas I had ever smelled. I swear I think my eyes were watering and I was gagging. It took over a minute with all 4 windows open to clear the air. When we got home, I asked hubby where to he was going to sleep, he suggested our bedroom so he wouldn't get lonesome. I quickly said no, that wouldn't be a good idea, put him in the downstairs bathroom with the door closed and the fan on.

Welcome back from the Aloha " Honeymoon"

    Wow.. a 12 year old Pug ?
You are a special person in BIL's heart already I can see. Pugs are very dedicated to 1 owner usually.

Sleeping in his crate or kennel with door open is a natural, kennels or crates are their "Cave " when they can't be in the lap or at the feet of their Human Partner.

The Gas is just something all pets can and will do depending on Diet and Stress. Hopefully BIL left you the Proper food and instructions of his ( Pugs) normal behavior, walks & talks and fav Toys ?

Though if you Don't want a Totally Stressed out Puggy on Mon or whenever BIL comes back.
I would Not leave him in a Bathroom with the fan on and Alone all night.

I would have Hubby Play with or Walk him, while you use the Gentle cycle on any of his bedding that is in his "cave'.. i And your Cave. can be re~scented if you do have any camomile's or mint type spices from your exotic cooking recipes, that calm the living souls.

Or you can Just Buck up, leave the Door open, his and Yours.. Let his Big Buggy eyes, Gape at you while You & Hubby do the " Wild Thang".. The poor Puggy will have a heart attack, choke on his canned food, have blood pressure that will seriously make you call the BIL in Vegas and say ..

" Whats the Vet's # again ? Or Hey can pugglys mate with ( fill in the blank )

Some dogs have irritable bowel syndrome just like people, and sometimes stress, like being away from their owner and in a different environment, can trigger the IBL and make for a smelly mess. Just be patient with him and show him some love, try to make him as much as home as possible. I know you're worried about the smell and possibly worse, but he'll be much happier and less likely to make a mess if you let him spend time with you and show him some love.

Pug don't want to play, he just lays around snorts and snores a lot. He claimed a spot on an easy chair and didn't move much until he we fed him. BIL sent his food, canned Evo beef. It was a small, tuna fish size can, he pigged it down in less than a minute. He is supposed to get 2 cans a day, morning and evening.

He hasn't dropped any more gas bombs so maybe it was the car ride that upset his stomach. He did poop in the middle of the lanai and I had to clean it up.
