    Default Prostitution:

I just finished watching a documentary on Prostitution, both legal and illegal. It ranged from girls that wanted to do it, it was their dream job, and there where other girls whom had been trafficked and where repeatedly raped.

What are everyones thoughts on prostitution?
Why do you think that men visit prostitutes? even legal ones?
Is there anyone in here that would be comfortable being in a relationship with someone who has paid for sex?

I firmly believe that two consenting adults should be able to do as they please, so if one of them is willing to offer money for sex and the other is willing to offer sex for money... I don't see the problem with it, even if it's not something that would ever interest me personally.

Prostitutes not only include women, but men also.

What was their definition of prostitution? Does it include sex for gifts? Only as quid pro quo or can it be implied that something will be given later or prior? Google wiki chicken ranch Texas to see how that place got its name.

One of the reasons some men visit prostitutes is that it an easy non relationship. Another is some men can have a "relationship" with someone they would never be able to have or want to have within their normal life. Another is going after forbidden fruit. Another is they can have different or kinky sex.

As far as the last question, why not also ask would anyone be comfortable in a relationship with someone who was trafficked or was at one time paid for sex? How about someone who took a present to have sex or used a present to influence whether they would have sex. Or how about someone who required to be bought dinner to consent to having sex? How about someone who bought dinner or gave a present to have sex?

I myself would not consider it a problem to be in a relationship with someone who has obtained sex at some time by some form of barter as long as the discussed boundaries of our relationship were not violated.

I once had a relationship with a lady who had at one time had to support herself by prostitution; it didn't affect who she was, nor did it affect who we were together.
It was history, as far as I was concerned: or maybe "herstory" is a better word...

As for me, I don't think I could ever pay for sex - I say it's a matter of pride. But then, if you were divide the number of times we had sex into the total cost of my first marriage, it would have been MUCH cheaper if I had just paid by the hour...

Well lady bruh. I think the method that the bruhs and lady bruhs were performing it would be my issue. If a lady bruh was being mentally forced to do it I would be against it, as in say a bruhs backhand or sweet words of manipulation kept her doing it and she wasnt really wanting too then no, if it was a willing bruh and...uh...female bruh then sure. I dont care but a lot of times the illegal female bruhs are in a dangerous situation where if she tells the law bruhs then they can arrest her as well as him. Legal side I dont mind since its more business and probably has more ethical codes surrounding it...but possibly more manipulation then physical. Of course this brings up issues of where and illegal being more common and ect ect.

I have no problem with someone voluntarily selling their sexual services. That is between them and their client and their respective SOs.

Statistics on prostition aren't pretty. Human trafficing has resulted in an estimated 27 million people on this planet being slaves. Over one million children are exploited in global sex trade every year. 50% of victims of transnational human trafficing are children, 80% of transnational victims are female and 70% of female vicitms of human trafficing are trafficed into the commercial sex industry.
Human trafficing is estimated to generate $32 billion a year in profits.
It is estimated that 60% of the prostitutes in London were trafficed.
The US is a destination nation for human traffic.

"1 in 7 teenagers in the USA run away from home. Living on the streets, one out of every three teens will be lured into prostitution within 48 hours of leaving home. And the longer they are gone, the more likely they are to engage in "survival sex." After three months away from home, 90 percent of children will turn to sex." I think it should be legalized with providers licensed by the state or county like massage therapists.

As long as the prostitutes are of legal age and are not being coerced, I have no objections. Coercion is of course a slippery slope, if someone is poor and feels that prostitution it their only way to make money, is that coercion? Of course if that IS their only way to make money, should we take it away and let them starve?

Since its apparently impossible to stop prostitution by outlawing it, I'd much rather see it legal and regulated to remove the worst of the abuses.

If prostitution were legal and the workers protected from "exploitation"- it really isn't any of my business. When it is "illegal" is is very dangerous to the workers and also the "customers". As to WHY men visit prostitutes; I think David lee Roth hit it on the head: " Sh!t man; I don't pay them to Scr*w- I pay them to LEAVE afterwards." i.e. Sexual release for an agreed "upfront" price- no lies, no pretense, no baggage.

From my (male) point of view, I think prostitution should be legal and regulated. By regulated I mean that there should at least be inspections just like at restaurants. I have never visited a prostitute. I have wanted to, but have always been too afraid of being arrested or robbed. I would probably be unable to perform anyway, because I would feel guilty about the woman doing it because I paid her and not because she wants to. I admit to looking at the ads when they used to be on Craigslist and wondering what it would be like....
