History is not boring or dull. It is the best way of determining which way the future will go when considering the present circumstances.
Like I said, investigating history in reference to finding previous findings in medical history to try and make an R & D point is boring to many so they simply do not take the time to look around at information. The events in history may not be necessarily boring but the subject of looking around for it is was my point. Many people like to focus on the now, because it concerns them the most.

I make roughly $900 per paycheck (bi weekly). After taxes and insurance I generally bring home about $630. I mean are other country's really paying that much more than I already am? Also keep in mind I am forced to claim 0 federal 0 state all year just because I am going to have to owe no matter what I do and I can never afford to pay out what it would cost to acually claim myself through out the year. By claiming zero, zero I still managed to owe the federal 30 bucks.

If Ihad claimed myself throughout the year, as most people do. I would owe them even more

It is a credit to return some of federal taxes to people. It is applicable for the 2009 and 2010 tax years (2010 taxes are due in April, 2011).

I live in a country where a heart transplant can run up to 300,000 and a simple trip to the emergency room can run you 20,000. Can anyone from these country's tell me about what a trip to the doctor is like. Would you really rather pay these prices than deal with the medical system that you have? (bear in mind your going to wait 30m to an hour in a doctors office here and even longer in an emergency room)
There *is* an alternative nobody seems to understand: paying the bill yourself.
Those obscene numbers you mention are the fake numbers that doctors and hospitals put on bills they submit to insurance companies, because of the silly games the insurance companies play; if you're paying on your own, the prices are dramatically lower.
And as for the millions who don't have medical insurance in this country - most of those are young, healthy people for whom medical insurance is simply a bad deal, cost-wise. When I was young, I had only a very high-deductible insurance, and that only because I raced cars and motorcycles. When I wasn't racing, I dropped the insurance too.
And as for the waiting lists in Britain and Canada: just ask a doctor in a border state like Michigan: lots of their patients are Canadians who got tired of waiting. Then too, when I lived in Tennessee our small town acquired a cardiologist and several general practitioners from Canada who had tired of that country's socialized medicine. I just wonder where our doctors will migrate to if Obamacare isn't ruled unConstitutional: Belize, maybe?

When you do the pay it yourself option, don't be afraid to negotiate for more expensive procedures. Some of the costs are not set. Also, understand the difference between getting a procedure done as an inpatient or as an outpatient.

Further, consider going to another country for some procedures. Some HMOs are already using this tactic to lower their costs for routine procedures that are a lot lower in other countries. They pay the airfare and all the costs of the hospitalization and the patient gets a good doctor (most probably educated in the USA or Europe) and good nurses in a hospital that caters to foreign clients.
