I'm a little confused about what to do with my life... I did a office administration certificate which was a waste of time a diploma in business administration and a major of marketing and now im in a bachelor of business administration with a major in marketing and a minor in management. I had plans to do a bachelor design in fashion communication from ryerson university after but the program looks fun (photography, web/graphic design, photography, writing, stylin, sewing, drawing etc.) but im not sure if it is most beneficial for a career or not? it mainly limits you to fashion jobs and multimedia jobs dont pay that high and I need a good career to support me & my family in the future... so instead i was thinking of a diploma in media communications but the same problem again working i marketing media communications would that give you a comfortable living I research most salaries to be under $40,000 canadian a year wdyt? but marketing on its own starts at 30,000 - 80,0000 in most cases but I really like public relations but doing another degree might be too much maybe a certificate or a diploma would be enough? or should I actually do the degree?
i would like to work in amrketing doing graphic advertisements or just have some sort of office job be a consultant, research, manager, director some day. I'm just looking for some feedback to put me in the right direction![]()
I suggest you talk to a college career guidence professional.
We can only learn to love by loving. - Iris Mudoch, British writer
I think WC's suggestion is a good one. I also think it's important for young people not to get too preoccupied with "what am I going to be when I grow up?". I'm almost 28, and I'm still not sure what I'm going to be when I grow up....but I have a career and a path because I picked a broad degree and stuck with it. Mine was Corporate and Organizational Communication along with Finance. I didn't know what I'd do with it....but I figured it would open up doors. And it did. Unless you're going into a specialized field (medicine, accounting, engineering) then don't sweat so much about what degree you have on paper.
It is smart to think about money, what your salary would be, etc. But it is smarter to choose a path that will open up doors for you. What path is going to give you the most options? Options are what lead to advancement therefore, more money.
"Be what you're looking for."
"The next time you're thinking of kicking someone when they're down, offer them your hand and help them back up instead."
What's your ACT score? When you were in middle school and high school, what areas/fields of interest did you score high on? When determining a course of study, you have to consider:
1. What your interests are
2. What kind of career you want to pursue
3. What jobs in your "interest list" would be on high demand by the time you graduate and most likely would not be outsourced - one that BD said, "opens doors", flexible.
4. Your budget
5. Your level of dedication and perseverance
Consult with a college career guidance professional for you to better understand your direction. Likewise (in most cases), your degree does not necessarily tell you what specific career you'll fall in, but most likely it will be your first job.

The clearest explanation for failure of any marriage is that two people are incompatible; that is, one is male and the other female. - Anna Quindlen

Apologies for that post, I was getting ready to post a reply, had to run to the store, left comp on on this site, Daughters friend was trying to text or msn chat with someone in a 3 way using my comp to my daughters comp and the 3rd person.. online and evidently typed into my reply box, Hit submit to Close my reply box and open the chat box ?
Anyway I was going to respond to the post , to maybe take some Evaluations test ( Online ) in Careers Sites, see if you can get a more Broad Based list of courses ? It never hurts to be proficient in more than one category of careers.
