So often I find the posts here to be heart wrenching. My heart really goes out to all of you.

I'll often spend half an hour writing a reply in someone's thread only to end up discarding it when I get the overwhelming feeling of "Oh heck, who the heck am I and what do I know! Nothing!" I don't feel qualified to give advice or venture opinions. I have my own experiences and I'm certainly very opinionated, but "who really gives a hoot what I think", is mostly what I think these days.

The one thing that makes this forum such an awesome place is that EVERYBODY's opinions are different, yet respectful and more often than not, very very helpful and appreciated by the person who posted the thread. Don't feel discouraged because you don't think you are qualified to give advice. That is just not the case.

Also, remember, that a lot of people read this forum, yet never register, so will never reply. So, even if you don't think that your advice may be beneficial to the OP, it will more than likely be beneficial to someone, somewhere.

What do you know? You know what you have experienced and what you feel. Sometimes that is all that is needed to make someone else feel like they are not the only ones going through what they are going through and they will get comfort in knowing you care enough to take the time to respond to them.

I feel like this often too. I think its a fear of looking stupid or naive. Sometimes I have an opinion on something, but just don't post.

You know... When you are genuine in your posting, you can't look stupid or naive. Everybody is different and we all have different circumstances that have brought us here. For every post you may think will be viewed as stupid or naive, there is someone out there who would probably benefit from it.

The thing to remember is that unless you have documentation or research to back it up, what you are offering is an opinion. There are times each of us falls into being perhaps a bit overly insistant on the validity or universality of our opinion or experience.

I think the whole point of posting a question on a forum is to get a range of opinions. Hopefully anyone who reads these will consider them, but make their own decisions. Forums provide a wide range of views on all sorts of subjects.
