My boyfriend's family is going on a family vacation abroad and they invited me to come. They're paying for pretty much everything for me!! I think it'd be polite to give them a gift, but I'm out of ideas I'm 23 and working a low-paying entry level job... I've never met them before or spoke with them before (they do not speak English). They're Europeans if that's relevant... help??

At your status, a self-made item would do. I always make my own thank you card out of blank notes from Staples, decorate it and write a heartfelt "thank you" letter. That would do I think.

Is you boyfriend not able to help you out and give you an idea of the sort of things they like?

A bottle of wine is usually a good gift, or some posh chocolates (since they tend to have a very broad appeal).

Or if you can afford it, you could offer to take them out for a meal while you're on holiday.

And a thank you card will also be a very nice gesture.

I agree with Cat, I think making your own card would be nice gift. You don't know them well enough to really do anything else. Make it personal and I'm sure they will appreciate it.

Try to learn a little of their language. A nice way of thanking them would be to be able to say it personally. Plus a couple of other sayings (obviously complimentary) which expresses how you feel about your boyfriend and his family.
