It's very sad, but I can't say I'm surprised. She was that magic age 27, by the way, at which Jimi Hendrix, Jim Morrison, Janis Joplin, Kurt Cobain, among many others, died.
Sources close to Amy Winehouse tell PerezHilton.com exclusively that they believe drugs were not responsible for the singer's untimely death.
Instead, they believe Amy's passing was brought on by a massive seizure.
"The hardcore drugs completely wrecked Amy's nervous system," an insider tells us. "She gave up all that [hardcore drugs] a while ago but she was still drinking heavily, which would bring on seizures."
Amy had been suffering from seizures regularly and despite being warned by doctors kept drinking.
An official autopsy has yet to be completed.

Let this be yet another example to ANYONE out there struggling with substance abuse or addiction...get help before it kills you!
Kicking addiction is hard...I know....leaving behind loved ones, like a spouse, children and parents is harder...on them.
What's even more unfortunate Tex - IMO is that everyone you mentioned were all drug related. Yeah, I know, Kurt Cobain shot himself after a battle with depression...a possible exception.
ive watched the movie called "Country Strong" and its about a country singer who kills herself to by overdosing, based on a true story too, i dont understand why singers kill themselves, they have such good things going for them so sad

I am sure that Kurt Cobain drank exessively and let's not forget our Aussie, Heath Ledger, who "accidentally" took too many pills...
Fame... I think sometimes is too difficult for people of a "softer" maybe nature, they may come across all tough but inside they can not cope...
Lady Gaga in my opinon is going to fall soon, I hope that someone sees more into that and helps pick her up... The other one would be Lindsay Lohan, imagine having a family like that seeking all the fame for themselves, the Father, the Mother...

Isn't there a saying that there's a fine line between genius and insanity? I think some of the most talented artists are able to produce such great things because they see the world differently, but this also makes it more difficult for them to cope with life. Add to that the pressure of fame and fortune, especially if it's acquired very quickly, and that can put them into even deeper trouble. I'm also sure it doesn't help that when they're depressed and they realize all that attention and money doesn't make the depression any better.
That and imagine, you are rich, filthy rich and each person you go out with you estabilsh is only doing so for the money, or alternatively, the money means nothing and they move on, yet you thought the money would hold it together...
Most of these people had troubled relationships as well. Obsessive relationships if you will, by their own hand or by the other persons.

why are people so sad about it? she was a violent drug user
She was a WILDLY talented musical artist, who will now never make another album for her fans to enjoy. She had given up heavy drugs, according to the news, but her body was too damaged to sustain her continued drinking. She lost the battle with addiction.
It could happen to anybody.

I agree with CW, and a lot of you. She was, like a lot of others, of a weak disposition to allow herself to get into such a state. Personally I didn't like her, she often looked dreadful, but it's a shame that she died so young. But there are musical geniuses that live long and productive lives.
