CW - just poking back at you my dear friend. You know I love yah!

Naughty - Of course they don't get viruses since Mac computers account for less than 2% of computers sold world wide, it's not worth the hackers time...There's no 'excitement' in it for the hacker to only infiltrate a few when they can infiltrate and poison.

Steve Jobs is an absolute control fanatic. Don't look for any 'compromise' between Apple and anybody any time soon. When you have more cash on hand (76 billion to 73 billion) than the U.S. federal government, and without the $14 trillion in debt, you can pretty much do what you want to do.

I love the stock...it's been a fun ride...

Since it seems impossible, or nearly so, to be able to retrieve data, pics - jpeg files from an Apple device, does anyone know how to do it to my home PC? It just spent 8 days at a 'data recovery' specialist's office and they recovered a bunch of stuff that they claim was 'corrupted'. Being a 'glass half full' optimist, I believe that these files can either be 'uncorrupted' or the pics I am looking for are still in there somewhere.

Priceless pics = Endless effort as far as I'm concerned. HELP!

They were pics that were stored in 'My Pics" folder in my PC. They were accidentally deleted and moved to the 'Recycle Bin'. It was quite a while before I discoverd they were gone...perhaps a month or more.

Thanks for any help or advice you can give.

As long as you didn't empty the recycle bin, they should still be there. Otherwise, using commercial software such as Norton Utilities usually works good. If you search on the internet you can probably find freeware, trialware or shareware that does the same thing. If the files have been overwritten, they are gone. I saw a company in the SF Bay area that claims to recover from an iPhone4. Going to the wrong recovery specialist can corrupt everything.

Seeker, so sorry you have lost some precious Pic's. I have been there myself. It is sad to never get to see the ones that were lost. So now I protect myself from ever losing another Precious pic.

    1) I download to my Comp to my Pic's folder. From Camera or Phone SD Card/ Memory.

    2) I then take and copy them to Photobucket or any other Pic/ editing program that is NOT attached Directly to my Computer memory.

    3) I Email the pic's to one of my other Addresses, Yahoo, Msn, Hotmail, any that is Not connected to my Computer as a Home Page. Usually I send them to 2 of my addresses and then put them in a Folder in my Emails.

    4) I send Very Important ones to one or more of my kids, so they can save in Photo bucket or MySpace or whichever Program they use.

    5) I copy photos to a Disc make 2-3 copies.

    6) I also have an External Hard Drive and I make copies of everything that is Important, Files, Pic's Documents and store them there also.

I know this sounds like allot of work, it can be.. But on the emails , you can Carbon Copy/ Blind Carbon copy to all of the Addy's you are sending it to so they all go out at once. Photobucket or other places you can Upload groups and Albums from your Pic File in the Comp.

External HD's and the Photo DVD's/ CD's are just back up's. If my Comp ever Crashes totally, I can go to any of my Emails or have a Family send back the Pic's from theirs or log into the Photobucket from Any computer in the world that is online and Retrieve them.

The photo below is one reason why I go to the Trouble to Back up all that is Important.

    My Oldest Son, 1976
Snail mailed photo's to Grand Parents and Aunties and other Family. Long Before any " Computers" .

This was one of those Kmart type 25 pic's for $10 . This actual Pic was one of the 5 X 7"s and Gramps put on an a Wood Board, " Burnt and Carved " and Shellacked or Decoupaged with the Resins.

And it hung on my Grandma's Wall until her Death. It was sent back to me by my Auntie.
It has Cracks in the Resin coating as you can see. But I had no Pic's of my Son from when he was a Toddler, due to a Fire in my home, that I had lost all pic's prior ones that were very Important.
This came back to me through the Spirit of Love of Grams keeping it all those years and the " New" Technology that we have now and the Old Fashioned... We used to Snail Mail pictures to our Loved ones.

Precious Pic's, Documents, Memories, Diaries. We can Now just pick up or Click up and Look.. Whereas before we had to save them in Boxes or on Plaques , paper photo's.

As Usual, I Novelize.. Though I also try to pass on the Wisdom, I have been Taught and or Learned.

Thanks Chrystal B. Yes it is very precious, it is on my wall in my bedroom.
The thing is I took that picture with a Digital Camera, had my daughter crop it, downloaded it and now have a Copy in about 8 different ways and places.

Even if I had another fire and it burnt or the Photo Disc's burnt up, I will still have a copy.

Seeker, I am hoping you find a way to rescue those Pic's. And hopefully you can find it not too much a difficult task and maybe use a couple of my suggestions to back up copies of any and all pic's that are dear to you.
But maybe not be as OCD as I am about copies, lol
