Yes mam...km is correct, I have no clue what your actual wedding plans were, but I do know that if you can't afford them, they are too much.

To me, 98 people is ALOT of people even though I know that lots of weddings have over 200. How many of those people are involved in your daily lives? Or even weekly lives for that matter? $$Dress$$$Venue$$$$Caterer$$$$$Photographer$$$$$$D ecorations$$$$$$$Reception venue$$$$$ Food $$$$ Drinks$$$$Reception Decor$$$$$$Bridesmaids & Groomsmen gifts$$$$$Baskets for flower girls$$$$, Sign in book$$$$$Officiant$$$$Flowers$$$$$ ............... I could go on and on, but seriously, I'm getting sick from typing all the dollar signs. And for what?????? This doesn't even count the money spent by the bridesmaids and the groomsmen just to be in your wedding, and the hundreds of thousands spent on gifts by attendees. Shesh. The whole idea of weddings have turned into a huge money making business, all for appearance. Has zero to do with the love you two share or the success of your marriage.

Call and see if you can negotiate your way out of your priciest obligations. You can still make this day beautiful and very memorable.

Agreed!! Money is dumb anyways. If it would've never existed, this world would be a better place! Haha I'm ready to make this the fun party I planned on making it when I first came up with the luau theme!

I just believe that there is a reason behind everything that happens. I'm trying to discover the reason behind this one.

Weddings are exciting, but you know? Planning is why this has failed...that is the only reason why.. Sure, there is planning for venues, dresses, etc but the biggest ingredient of a plan is how much it costs, where those funds are going to come from and once that's established, the rest then is worked on that budget...

Expectations and reality are two different things, you didn't have the facts, you worked from "expectation" now this wedding has become a stress ball

I personally would put a stop on everything, salvage what you can, work out the financial situation decide if you need to save and expand on that, and once you know you have the finances to cover what you both, mutually want then you plan the wedding.. The last thing you want is both of you to be stressed , this is "for the rest of your lives"..

Agreed. I always learn my lessons the hard way. I guarantee I'll never be depending on something that isn't solid again. My dress, unfortunately, I have to pay for. I'm hoping I may be able to return it after it arrives. I'm more optimistic now. No matter what happens, I'm just happy I'll still be able to become his wife.

I'm SO going to get married at a city hall, if I ever do marry...

Just reading this thread made me nervous, as if I was the one getting married, there's so much tension before weddings!

Good luck with the planning and the ceremony, you seem to have things under control

We decided today to ditch the big wedding and opt for a small ceremony and a really laid back reception. I'm calling to get what I can back for the venue and chalk what I can't back as a loss. Also calling the caterer and seeing what can be done there as far as our deposit. My puppy got hurt today and it's going to cost a lot of money. So that really put a lot of things in perspective for us. Emergencies happen all the time and our wedding is something we can control. Funny thing is we both said "We could get married here!" while we were at the vet. We are now on the same page and I am so relieved! Thanks so much for the support ladies. You're more honest than some of my girlfriends! =]
