Anytime you give an item to somebody else to sell and make money off for you, you'll tend to get "ripped off." Consider that a place like Plato's Closet is taking your clothes and giving you money with no hard-and-fast proof that they will be able to sell them. A consignment shop might be a better deal, but if the clothes don't sell there, you don't get any money either. Consider how much effort you want to put into selling the clothes.
The more you can sell at your yard sale, the better. Make sure that your clothes are priced fairly. Advertise the sale on Craigslist, facebook, local deals board, wherever you can. There are people out there who LOVE to yard sale. Make sure they know where you are!
