Haha... well I only saw him once since posting this. I did give him some gentle guidance, and he seems to be making an effort. He seems to get a little rough and get right in there out of habit, or it's just the way he does it... so trying to change that could take some time. But I have to give the guy credit for making the effort... so we're just keeping things casual for now and see where it goes.
