"It was a low-blow for a food bank in Port Angeles when someone stole 2,000 pounds of food that was going to be used in the soup kitchen and holiday baskets.
The thief broke into a storage trailer where the Salvation Army had been stockpiling potatoes, onions and canned food.
"A volunteer went out to get some food out of the container and noticed that the padlock was cut; I don't know if they used a blow torch, it was one of those padlocks that's almost impossible to break, but they did it," said Salvation Army Major D. Johnson
Johnson said about a ton of food was taken, and that's going to really hurt their ability to feed the poor in their community.
This is the third time someone has stolen food from Salvation Army offices in Port Angeles in the past year. "
