Someone was saying for the hybrid they can't walk ahead of you or enter a room before you and all this other stuff. It sounds intense. I've dealt with big dog breeds before but not anything like a husky! I'm sort of excited and apprehensive at the same time.

I'm so glad that you made an Educated Decision Cc.
While exotics are so beautiful and so many want something " special " very few actually research and ask like you did .

Most just Impulse buy and end up scammed or so in debt with medical bills from " Special " diseases or Treatments needed to maintain their Health. Among other Expenses.

Congrats on your Recent Marriage and may I recommend that you take a year or so with your marriage and save up for a Dog or other pet that you & Hubby can devote about 14-20 years to. Most Healthy, well taken care of Dogs , live to at least 14 years, barring any accidents or Diseases.

Purebreds (if truly Purebred with Pedigree ) are expensive, Hybrids ( Mixed breeds ) are also expensive and usually have traits of the two mixed purebreds, which also can have problems down the line.

When it comes to adding to your Family and Getting a Pet is Adding to your family, accepting a lifelong ( theirs ) responsibility to take care of it . Just ask CW and her getting up every morning with her Beautiful Diabetic Dog ..

It's not something light to just go do . Puppies are Cute, but they grow into dogs in 1 year, full Growth ( other than overweight ) in 2 years . So when you are ready for an Addition to your family , think Size & Care, have pet insurance and Vet insurance.

Possibly think of a Rescue pet , one that is Fixed, temperament assessed, all shots and usually about $150 out the door. One that needs your love and a loving home allot more than some Backyard Breeder needs the $400-$600 for that " Mutt ". Oops Mix of two or more breeds or Cross/inbreeds .. Real Word is MUTT !

Thanks so much BG! We actually already have a cat and small dog...our next pet will be his English Bulldog. My big dog will be a few years down the line. We definitely don't have the funding or time to devote to an animals that needs so much attention and training. Nor do we have the room! But yes I don't want to end up with something wild...I guess I didn't think of the hybrids as truly wild dogs until I read a few articles on them. I already hate the stories I hear about these people that live in urban areas, sometimes apartments that take in tigers and lions and other exotic animals. It's always a sad day...

Even here in Ohio, there was a man that had these beautiful rare tigers and other exotic animals that he let loose before committing suicide. The images were sickening. Those beautiful animals killed because of a poor decision...I wouldn't want to get a wild animal and run the risk of it getting loose and being mistaken for something it's not then getting shot..

My fiance grew up with a wolf/huskie mix. He said it was the most laid back faithful and loyal dog he ever met. Little kids could sit on him and tug on his ears and fur and he wouldn't even blink an eye. Unfortunately, he was hit by a milk truck when he ran into the road one day.
~Today, any person can fight the battles of one day It is only when you and I add the burdens of those two awful eternity's- yesterday and tomorrow, that we break down. It is not the experience of today that drives people mad. It is the remorse of bitterness for something which happened yesterday and the dread of what tomorrow may bring.
Let us therefore, live but one day at a time.~

    Cc and Liz.

There can be Very Special and Exotic animals and People in our Lives.

Like Liz said. there are some that are " raised " Correctly, that can do harm, but will not, due to the Love and Respect and the " Raising" from young .
Not much different than our Children .

My 25- 37 year olds ( kids ) were raised with Dobermans. Both the Gladiators , 120 lbs and Black & Rust , 80-95 lbs.. True Pedigree's, papered and we paid $800 each to have trained by Police training Services here in Wa. That was after the cost of the Pups. But it wasn't their Cost or pedigree , it was their Training and Interaction that made them Great Family Dogs and Protectors..

My kids could chew on their ears, take bones out of their mouths, crawl and dang near ride the Dogs.
But if one person in our home raise their Voice in an angry way and the Girls would not allow. Their Stance and " Voice" would let us know it was Unacceptable !

These ( Girls ) were so very Protective, even of each of us in a singular way. But so much more of the Leader, which was myself . That is why they were my " Girls'. They were Not My Dogs.. They were The Girls !!

I myself was raised with Shepherds, my Dad raised Search and Rescue dogs for the 4 Corners ( USA) .

It is how you raise your Pet/partner in life, that counts. My Daddy used to say that you raised your Dogs like you would a Child. Rules, Consequences, Praises and with true love and a Goal of accomplishment of a partnership.

I'm here for you, you are here for me. Is the same worldwide for having out Animal Companions.
If you get a chance to watch a search And rescue show, or even K~9 Cop type.

You will see the Dogs have a JOB to do. And then if you search the " history " or Family of the particular " Dog, you will see they are Really Family, They just go to work when needed.
