I am the proud "mom" of three kittahs. My youngest (4 years old) Max also inhales his food, and quite frequently burps when he's done . . . no kidding! My other two "chew" slowly and take twice as long to eat. Cats will be cats they say! Our vet suggested that we buy a higher quality of food for them, as the less expensive food was referred to by the vet as "McDonalds for cats"! LOL!
    just breathe . . .

Thanks everyone, yes I think I am buying a cheaper brand... I will start Checking the ingredients!
Stan Lee is eating the moist and not throwing up but still throws up the dry... The moist is the same brand. I'm useing friskies, I also give them half a can of tuna once or twice a week. He doesn't throw that up either. Does anyone have a brand suggestion?

Babygirl your kitty is soooooo cute!

Aww Thanks , She's a Nebelung ( Newer rare breed , started in 1984 on accident by cross breeding between a Domestic Short haired Grey and a Russian Blue. Only 1 came out this way and they then talked with a geneticist and found that with time and care and not too close Inbreeding , they Created a Special " Breed ", which was named in 1990 and deemed a " pedigree ".

The "Special about Nebelung's" is they have Soft Silky Blue Grey more like human baby hair than fur but also a Silver shade in light, to their hair, Long hair,, silver, on Tail, Long Hair between toes and also on tips of ears and a " Mane of longer hair around Neck .

You can google about them if interested . Dizzy is almost 6, never been bred, not fixed, healthy ( since we switched foods ), and very Opinionated and individualized.
She will not eat "canned food" , but will lick the Juice/ Gravy off of the canned food. She loves Beef, soft chew snacks, wont eat Tuna or any other Fish, Chicken Treats.

Absolutely will not eat any Human Food ( Chicken, Turkey, Beef ) except. Green Olives. Yep, the Green Spanish olives with the pimento in it .. Go Figure that out ? lol
So, Loving, you can hold her like a Baby, cradled in your arm , ( on her back ), she will Hug you if you put her up to your shoulder and Snuggle, like you'd Burp a baby. I think I posted her hanging upside down once in another Thread , ( Gymnast Style ).

She does not MEOW at all , she me`waks, Similar to a Duck Quack with a M . lol .. in a very soft Voice, though Howls when in Heat .. Comes to a Whistle that my daughter does, ( very High pitched ) . We always have said if my daughter was buried under Rubble, if she whistled , Dizzy could find her .

Even did a test on it, having my daughter hide in a closet, behind boxes and stuff. Then had her whistle the "pitch ' and Diz found her, stretched and clawed at the closet door until we opened it and she climbed up on the boxes and clawed at the blanket my daughter was hiding under .

Freakin Amazing !! And it's kind of an Entertainment factor with new friends or Company .. Cat Finds Owner .. lol
She hates and hides from Strangers, it literally takes almost a year for her to willingly walk up to someone and let them pet her .

Though she doesn't mind a Pet, if in one of our Arms. But will get tense if they pet too much . Every Cat has a Personality, they are each and every one very Special, Just like the humans that chose to love them .

On your food question, Purina is ok if you get the right formula. My cats are never outside, we live in a 3rd story Complex , have a small balcony, so Indoor is the best for ours and Adult formula, I think the Purple bag, ($18 ) we buy in 25 lb sizes but also will buy the Hairball ( Iams 7 lb bag for about $12) and mix in., So for about $35 we get food for two cats for 10-12 weeks.

Green Olives and soft beef treats are extra .. Lol

I have to feed my cat grain free food. She was having problems, throwing up and loose doodoo. The vet told me to try grain free food and it worked. Now she never throws up anymore. She will eat dry food if she is very hungry but will cry for better food.

I finally settled on Blue Buffalo Wilderness. It is grain free and comes in 4 flavors, which I alternate. She loves it and it never upsets her stomach.

I'm a big fan of Evo foods. I have 3 cats, and a 20lb bag usually lasts me about 2 months. As far as wolfing food down, have you considered just feeding him more often through the day, instead of larger amounts at the same time? That way, he doesn't really have the option of eating so much that he vomits.

Babygirl, she sounds wonderful, I love how much personality my kittys have!
Chaya, Stan Lee doesn't have any poopy problems just throwing up problems. I'm glad to hear your kitty is doing well now that you switched
Rosekitten, yes I do feed them smaller portions about 3 times a day. He just Wolfs it down, throws it up and goes back to the bowl...

Thanks for the information on the names of your brands! I will have to check into them. I did check the moist and it is meat product, I forgot to check the dry... Silly me
Still Stan Lee is doing well on the moist, and he still throws up the dry. Olly cat is happy as can be, she gets dry, moist, tuna and kitty treats... She doesn't throw anything up and has a history of over eating.. I think I'm creating a problem with her, while trying to fix my problem with Stan Lee.

I have read online that cheap food can make your cat throw up. Why, i have no idea but that is what they say. Also, if you change from cheap food to the good stuff, you will notice that your cats fur becomes much softer.

My two cats were being fed junk the first three months of their life because they were at the shelter. But even though money is tight with me, I figure it is cheaper to buy the good food than pay for vet bills in the long run. And even though I don't want to pay the vet bills, even more important, I want them to be healthy. I will admit I feed them more dry than wet but I make sure it is the good stuff. Dry food I feed them is Innova and since they were starting to get bored with it, I decided to mix a little bit of Taste of the Wild in it. Both of these brands can only be found at specialty store. I would be shocked if you were able to find them in a supermarket. I try to stay away from anything that say meal by product. That is pure junk.

They are picky when it comes to wet food. The only brand they will touch is Natural Choice.
Never regret something that once made you smile.

I know I am harping but google what is in cats food in a tin....

Do you eat spam? Natural tin food certainly tuna, I eat..

Taking aside the throwing up Darling Given the answers here, the best way to avoid vet bills, avoid having a diabetic animal unless heriditory as mine was, un-beknown to me, and to have healthy cats, with shiny coats is add fish oil to their meals, just a quarter of a teaspoon and give them home made meals, with veg, protein and carbs they will live alot longer and healthier

Don't believe me, google...and see what people are saying

Like everything in life that's hard to achieve
    you must believe!
