Stan Lee is my 1.5 year old male tom cat. Stan Lee is a big cat, not fat but muscular. He is loving, curious and adorable. Here's the catch...
He won't chew his food! We have had this problem on and off with him he eats his tummy full of cat chow, and a few minutes later he throws it all up! And then goes back to his dish and eats again. At first I took him to the doctor bc I though he was sick... But he isn't he just doesn't chew! I've tried all sorts of brands. Lately since the move he throws up at least once a day... I'm so frustrated... I finally broke down out of pitty and started giving him a can of moist once a day, which is helping, but my other cat is going to get fat I just no it, she goes crazy with the moist.

He doesn't throw up the moist food, but I think its really making him worse with the dry, he still throws that up.
I want to keep them on dry, but want Stan Lee to be healthy, what on earth can i do?
Has anyone else had a cat like this? Should I just give up and do a switch to moist food?

I have a cat exactly like that too. I mix the moist with the dry and I get a very stomach sensitive dry food. It's expensive, but if it means him not throwing up, I consider myself saving money. You could try to isolate your cat and feed him the moist a certain time of the day and then when he is hungry he can eat out of the other dish that the other cat does. That way if he does puke at least you know he's not starving.

You can also mix a bit of water in with the dry food to soften it. Have the vet check his teeth and make sure there is nothing going on there... maybe he's not chewing because something is painful.

Oh thank goodness Stan Lee isn't the only cat that does this i'll have to tell him he isn't alone in this problem
I didn't think to mix the two i'll try that tonight! I did try separate feedings ... Once that made Olly cat real upset ...

I had him all checked out about 5 months ago, they said he was a health kitty, but maybe it is a tooth ache that pops up for no reason?
But I'm pretty sure it has to do with him not slowing down enough to chew when he eats, I've even tried giving him small amounts through out the day... He still eats the small portions to quick.

Thanks so much for the help, I'll let you know how it goes with the mixing them together!

Cats actually don't chew. They might use their teeth to bite here and there but mainly thew wolf down food.

Sounds as if your cat love his food and so wolfes it down to fast, thereby chucking up.

It's also dangerous to give mushy food and leave left overs in the bowl (not that he probably leaves anything) Bacteria sets in very quickly with wet food, so make sure he eats it all.

My suggestion? Cat food, even perscription canned food is full of carp, harmful things, google it.

All of my animals, cats or dogs, get the same food.

Either chicken breast or lean mince meat, enriched pasta (has vitamins in it), chopped up fine, carrot and broccoli (never give them spinach), and a can of kidney beans, all put in a large saucepan and cooked.

Thereby they are eating protein, vegetables and carbs. Keeps them full longer, it's not expensive, it's not hard and you can freeze it...

You may very well also find that your little boy, doesn't like one of the chemicals in the ingredient of the cat food you are giving him.

On another note, I've asked 20 people so far, only one new. Flea medicine, for dogs can not be given to cats, the ingredients are different, and poisonous for cats.

Well... some cats must chew. I hear my kitten chomping away at her dry food whenever she goes to eat.

I have a cat that has a sensitive Tummy, Sensitive to food that was. She used to throw up at least a couple of times a day.

I also noticed that she scratched allot, especially at her neck, she'd scratch so hard she's get lil sores. We though fleas, but there were none. A friend of mine is a Vet Tech and she came by the house and checked out Dizzy.

It turns out that it was the kind of food we were feeding Dizzy. We of course were trying to save money & bought the inexpensive store brand. We changed to a higher Quality food with Chicken as first ingredient with meat/ Chicken byproduct as second on list ( not Corn or wheat or Grains ). Dizzy stopped throwing up and within a month all her scratching was gone, no more sores on her neck either .

Now we spend the Extra Money and buy Quality Food.

Agree with BabyGirl. The type of food can play a huge factor. I try to look for a food that starts with a meat product like chicken or beef. Don't cheap out. Also- I have heard my cats chew too...
