Any one else stressing out with such a short time left before Christmas Day?

I've bought almost all the presents for (2) families and wrapped them, thankfully, now I think I've finished making the list of food I have to buy and prepare for both lunch and dinner..

I've a week of house work to do, whilst training and working

    I'M STRESSED

    haha.

I'm usually super good at getting ahead of the game with Christmas. I'll have the tree, lights, other decorations done the first week of December, presents bought and wrapped by week 2 or 3. This year not so much... too much other stuff going on with work, my wedding, planning a gigantic (100 guest) baby shower in 2 weeks, and trying to get my passport information figured out!!

I'm trying not to get stressed, but seems I work best under pressure anyway so maybe a little stress will do me good. I just started (and FINISHED, thankyouverymuch) my Christmas shopping yesterday.. for 3 sets of Christmas gift exchanges. Still need to wrap, and still need to get the house cleaned and the meal plan made up and the grocery list figured out and the groceries actually PURCHASED. Here's hoping by Wednesday (when I actually have time to get to the store) they still have a ham in the cooler big enough to feed 20! GAH!!!

We're doing 2 families on Saturday - fiance's immediate family is having early lunch, and I'm having a huge dinner with all the fixings at our house for my extended family. So I have to have everything cleaned, presents wrapped, and food prepared ready to cook before Saturday, but also work every day 9 hrs. Good thing the fiance knows how to wield a duster and vacuum because he's getting put to work this week!

KMonte- I feel your pain! I am also planning a wedding, going school, figuring out passport information, and have been doing family Christmas stuff since last weekend and won't be done until the end of January (tree hopping)! I have to try to get my bridesmaids fitted for their dresses by the end of January, I met with 3 photographers last week, 2 florists...and JUST got my Christmas shopping done last weekend. Blah! So hectic!

    I get excited about Christmas..
But am So Ready for it to be Done and Over with !

I really don't get to plan a " Dinner " or Family time..

We have to have Christmas on Christmas Eve, as I work Christmas Eve & the Day after, My Daughter , Oldest & Hubby " can only come down on the 24th eve for Prezzie opening . Daughter has to work Christmas Day, She works retail ( Walgreen/ Rite Aide type Store) I work Retail ( Auto Parts store ) they are open, we are not .

Now the kids are all Adults, it's so much harder to get in the " Spirit " for me. I do miss the Big plans and Gatherings when they were Younger .

I envy you all, that are so stressed and want things so perfect and need to be somewhere at sometime with Smiles and Styles all around .

And I certainly don't want to Rain on the Beautiful Parade of Christmas . And in some ways , I'm glad I am less stressed than most .

But .. I am waiting for New Years .. No not a party, but to start a new Goal and maybe not be such a "Scrooge" next Christmas and have something/ someone to look forward to sharing with .. One on One

    * Wink * * Dear Santa *

I still have to buy some gifts. Final exams come first during the Christmas time so I have not had much time to do anything Christmas related. Tomorrow is my last final though so I will go to the mall and finish up buying stuff, then wrap for like 3 days (my mom has no time so I have to do it all).

Christmas dinner though I am looking forward too, I love food lol.

You know the oddity is that I have time and time again offered to have BOTH sides of the family over at the same time. Everybody, at one time, in one house, enjoying the feast and each other's company. But the elders and their "traditions" have stopped that from ever happening. "That's not what we've ever done for Christmas! We've never had Christmas with those people!"

Well get used to it, because like it or not, we're all family now!

Scheming for next year. Thinking I will invite both sides to Christmas, same day, same time, and just not tell anyone Mwahahahaha!

    hahaha

Yeah, my parents are like that...But, I was quite shocked, this year... I just said, "would you mind if I invite David's parents for lunch", "Do what you want" was the answer nicely too

It's all getting so hard, my niece and nephews are 16-21 , the 21 year old has a girlfriend so he will drift off soon, we live 1 and a half hours away from each other, so spending xmas night is a chore and it's usually me that drives to them...My Brother's wife always spends lunch with her Family, so sucked in for me if I want to change things, that always left Mum and Dad alone for lunch, so I changed that this year

Now, after dinner, we will be going to his family, it gets complicated huh

I have two younger brothers, 8 and 9 years old. So Santa still comes to our house, but I'm glad because it keeps that Christmas feeling going.

Watching my younger brother's on Christmas morning when they see all their new toys and gifts, always makes me smile and be grateful thinking back and realising how much thought, time, love and money was put in to my Christmas's years ago, and I didn't even know then that it was all down to my parents.

I love the dinner, it's the one time now that all 8 of us get to sit down and relax and be together as a family. Two of the eldest boys have moved out, but still always come home for the Christmas Dinner. That evening we all go to my grand parents, and so do my aunts and uncles and their children, which ends up being about 30 of us, so it usually is a pretty big Christmas, but it's always brilliant
