In an age where we have to work our ...well ... off to survive to achieve, to get somewhere we often neglect.

    I have just realised that...

    It's time for phone calls...

For those that are work-a-holics like me, who come to a Forum maybe, to un-wind or see our friends, "family" do you feel you are like me, wake up one day and say when was the last time I called? Or dropped by? Yet they do to me?

I'm curious... I am sure I am not alone.

When I work too much, I always ask myself: what/who is it am I running away from ?

As for the calls to the family, or drop by, being notoriously bad at it, I found a way to keep in touch without calling

    Maybe not

I too, am a workaholic...i dont get a day off ever, but as you said mum...gotta work your bottom off to get to the top.

i think "catching up" over the phone with friends and family is something different for everyone, whether it is over facebook, phone, or even text. At least you are putting in the effort to catch up. thats all that counts, really.

    That's probably true sweet.

Just recently I had a listing near my parents, I was visiting them, therefore for 1/2 hr every weekend, it felt good and made me realise.. Now, I've sold that property but, I have another close by in a Month... So I'll do it again.

I wonder if we counted all the "friends" family, we have and should make that effort to keep in touch, how many we really do? And, how many we lose...

Twas just an observation but one that I bet if everyone actually thought about, they say, geez haven't spoken to her for 12 months or haven't seen my Brother since the birthday gathering or spoke to him, for 6 months...

I wonder if more effort really, is needed.

well, those you count family wouldnt wait 6 months to talk. why would they? I can hardly go two weeks without messaging my mum....she started out as a friend, then grew to a witch, then to my mum.

I should have used "intentions" instead of effort. effort can be exuded with no meaning. Intentions have meaning, and are always good. AND we all know you're good, mum. INTEND AWAY!

I am not in the world of having a career just yet but I know I will be a workaholic. On top of that I am really not a social person so I do not contact people, and I naturally have no intense desire to as I am very content and happy not talking to multiple people. The only person I would keep in touch with is my mom. Not sure how my life will be based on my knowing I will work a lot to be successful while not caring much about being social.

    Hi - I'm Lana and I'm a workaholic...

LOL - There should be a group for this. I work my rear end off and it does get exhausting, but really, it would be hard to have it any other way. I thrive off of results, my results and knowing that I'm ridiculously good at my job.

When you couple in a professional job, that you have to make work with family activities and making sure my kids thrive in their activities and environments, it takes a lot of work. I don't get a lot of time for myself except when I run every day or I wake up at 3am and can't go back to sleep so I end up reading.

Honestly, even if I won the lottery tomorrow, I still could not see myself NOT working. That just doesn't sit well with me, it runs in my blood to be busy and successful. I'm sure eventually I'll see it differently, but right now, nah.

    LOL -
    Spits coffee out, LMAO.

What about friends? Does it not affect the amount of times you speak with them, or neglect to? Maybe as it's just gone past Christmas where we all gather, or text or send a message I'm thinking of all of those that I promised to catch up with that I still, haven't caught up with IDK

Is that my guilt trip? You do to me, but I do press like alot when I read what you are up to

Very profound Ace, maybe that should be considered ....intentions are worth more than effort but effort still has to be made.
