So I am probably one of the few middle aged women who loves anime. My latest obsession had been reading fanfiction. I recently just wrote one myself with lots of detailed sexual scenes. But I haven't told anybody, not my friends or my husband. I really like what I wrote, but I don't particularly think its great writing. I also am embarrased that I waste my time doing such stuff when I have a ton of other stuff to do (oh, likes work, kids, grad school).

Is it wrong not to tell my husband. I feel he would make fun of me and like I said, its not even good writing.

Hey! I don't think there is anything wrong with it, as long as it isn't based on your personal sex life.
Even with important obligations, we all need time some kind of hobby or activity to take our mind off and out of the day to day grind. I joined a sci fi writers meet up group, and we have meetings once a month. I don't tell a lot of people about it, but I love the creativity and nonjudgmental atmosphere. Maybe there is something like that near you that you can join?

I'll probably end up as a middle-aged woman who likes anime After all, I've spend the last 15 years enjoying it, so I don't suspect the next 15 years would be much different.
Writing fanfiction is fun. Having fantasies is fun. Combining the two, and getting a little outlet (or maybe a chance to concentrate on) your sexy feelings can only be LOTS of fun! If you are embarrassed, you don't have to tell anybody about it. But if it comes up, certainly don't lie or avoid the subject.

Your middle ages, congrats You do know that we are at our peek right about now don't you.

It's wicked that you are letting your inhibitions flow over and spill into paper, you don't have to be perfect at the writing, geez, I had a magazine and I wasn't, it was always edited..

Don't feel guilty that's silly you are allowed "me time" what ever that is that you choose to do with it.

I'd actually contemplate introducing some of the things you are writing about with your husband and see his response, you may find that this is a different beginning of "your" lives and if so, then you will glady be okay with sharing with him, what you are doing.

As for your friends? Some things belong to yourself, they would be jealous anyway
