I've looked on her a couple times, maybe I just missed it, but I don't see any category for careers. So I thought it would be fun to share what we do and what our career goals are.

Right now I am going to school online for my bachelors in Business Management and Leadership. I only have 1 year left, YAY!

I work for a city in Wisconsin in the Public Works department. I basically answer all the incoming calls regarding garbage collection, recycling, street repairs, street lights, sewer related issues, long grass complaints, plowing, etc. I keep track of the tons of garbage we collect on a daily basis and the tons we collect of recycling.

    Sounds boring huh!

I would love to get into a management position some day. It doesn't necessarily have to be where I am working now, but I've been told I am a natural leader and that's what I enjoy doing. I like inspiring people and helping out however I can.

Now tell me...what do YOU do???
~Today, any person can fight the battles of one day It is only when you and I add the burdens of those two awful eternity's- yesterday and tomorrow, that we break down. It is not the experience of today that drives people mad. It is the remorse of bitterness for something which happened yesterday and the dread of what tomorrow may bring.
Let us therefore, live but one day at a time.~

I am an undergrad science student pursuing a BSc in Biological science (basically it covers everything from anatomy to zoology, so a ton of information). My studies will finally be complete this coming April, super excited lol. I plan on working at the University in a research lab once I have my actual degree, or at a massive research lab company right by the University (it is the TV image of stereotypical row after row of lab benches and people in white lab coats pipetting things lol). Having a career or "real job" as I call it once I have my degree will feel like such an accomplishment. Hopefully I can work in several different labs to gain a lot of research experience so that I may apply to grad school later on. Have not made up my mind on that but I mean I am only 23 so I have plenty of time to decide if I ever want to go back to school. Many people I know always say that they expect me to be a "life time student" lol, I could see that happening with the BSc then MSc then PhD or MD which can equal well over 20 years of education alone. Sheesh maybe I should just stick to making money instead of spending it all on degrees that will litter my office wall with framed papers and more letters behind my name lol.

I am a property manager for a local company. Basically, I run several apartment complexes, and live in one. My daily duties vary but I am constantly busy. I collect rent, deal with bad tenants with my iron fist, do in/out inspections, hand out notices, do viewings, process applications, take calls, minor maintenance work, clean my buildings (inside and out), deal with carpet cleners, exterminators (I hate bed bugs and cockroaches), floods, fires, insurance people, plumbers, electricians, and then make sure my tenants are looked after and happy. I go a little further than most property managers. I always lend a helping hand, and go out of my way to talk and listen with my tenants. I know that I am ONE girl, and if things get sour with someone, my tenants will have my back because they know I have theirs.

It isnt a career for everyone, thats for sure. Because I live at the one building, I dont get a day off...or a night. I am on-call 24/7. Some nights I dont sleep, and some days I wonder why I stick with it. lol! But if I can last in this job, it will open SO many doors for me. I may take over the company...you never know. And I LOVE my higher up! She is more than a boss. Shes a good friend.

Where do I hope to be in a few years? Well..who knows. I love what I do...most days. I would LOVE to get up to being the company manager. That would be a challenge!! Best part...The company will pay for any schooling I may need WOO!

By this December I will have my BA in Computer Art. I plan on doing something in the graphic design field in Manhattan by next January.
In the meantime, when I'm home from school, I work part time at Costco as a front end worker. (Cashier and cashier assistant) It's good to make some money while I'm in school.

Most here already know I'm a graphic designer, and I do love it although I've had some struggles too. Very competitive field, on top of how the economy is right now makes it very tough. I still wouldn't give it up for anything though.

I am an Electrical Engineer. Career goal is to continue doing the same until I am eligible for retirement and a pension. Then my options open up as far as working elsewhere, retiring overseas, volunteering, etc.
I have but one lamp by which my feet are guided, and that is the lamp of experience.

Oh yes, I know that field will eat you alive. I got to prepare myself.

I'm loving these answers It's so cool how different everyone is, but it shows we all have a dream or a goal.
