Question Are Women Inclined to Vote for the Better Looking Candidate?

    Hi, politics question here
This is a question about the whole current Democratic and Republic candidate elections,
I was watching a program that was debating about the whole Obama-Clinton thing and they were arguing about what was needed to take the women's vote. According to them women are more likely to vote for the (male) candidate that they view as being the most sexually attractive.
do you think this is true?
If I'm being honest I find Obama quite easy on the eyes, as do I view Romney as having quite 'Presidential' looks, but if I was in a position to vote, I don't think I'd actually vote for them.
What do you think? Does your vote sometimes incline towards the person you view as being more attractive looking?

well i would definatly say i would be inclined to vote for someone i feel is appealing to the eyes. i feel that looks do help out with just about anything in life but i also i have to say that in my opinion clinton would get alot of votes from women because she is a woman and i think women feel she could better relate to them on a different level than a man could. i pretty much lean on to the liberal side of things. frankly politics frustrate me to no end.

Voting for someone for any reason other than the candidates political stance and ability to lead is ridiculous. With that said, Obama and Edwards are easy on the eyes for sure.

It's how they stand on the issues. I don't pay much attention to looks, however I will say that whether or not they have a strong presence does play a factor. Remember when Ross Perot was running? He had a weak presence to me, he just didn't "feel" presidential.

It's the same reason Kucinnich will never stand a chance. He's short and goofy looking and the American public will never get past it.

"When a man gets up to speak, people listen, then look. When a woman gets up, people look; then, if they like what they see, they listen." - Pauline Frederick

When it comes to who is going to decide the fate of my health care, my reproductive rights, my taxes and my national security, I could care less what he or she looks like, as long as I believe they have integrity.

Heck, I thought Al Gore was alot easier on the eyes than George Bush, but here we are. Oh, I forgot. Gore won the election, right?

No way... For me personally I would never vote based upon attractiveness. I'd vote based upon what they have to say. I think that Politicians are all crooks in their own ways but you have to choose the lesser of the two evils. It wouldn't surprise me if women did do this though. *shrugs*

Attractiveness is subjective. I had a neighbor who would almost wet her pants over Bush and I thought the man was singularly unattractive. I do pay attention to facial expression, body language, tonality - bearing in mind that most of these people are schooled in this. I consider how they would communicate and across as a leader and representative of our nation. But their views and politics are paramount. I listen for not only what they say but what they don't say and well as for incongruities. A candidiate who says different things to different groups, not just tailoring their message to the audience's understanding, but conterdicting themselves, back peddling a lot, that sort of thing concerns me.

Physical appearance is important only in that we should not have a slob as our representative.

That's not a good assumption!! No way do I vote based on looks....although with McCain and Obama it was sort of a side decision and obviously Obama is an attractive man compared to McCain, but no way did I vote based on anyone's looks. I always review the candidates on many levels before I cast my ballot.

That being said....I'd like to say Gavin Newsom, the mayor of SF,CA is a very very handsome man...he is sexy but I did not vote for him tho lol. I must admit I do have a bit of a crush on Obama and do fantasize him shirtless lol.

Google image search "young McCain." Hot. Hot. Hot.
I'd posit that BOTH genders vote based on looks. However, since there are far more good-looking men than women in politics right now, it's easy to point fingers at women. Just imagine Hilary's face/body on Sarah Palin's ideals. Would she still have rocked the GOP in 2008? My hypothesis: no.
