So, i've been trawling through the internet trying to find a holiday... but im stumped on where to go.... i want somewhere with golden sands, crystal clear waters... not anywhere busy and full of 18-30 holiday makers (ergh, nightmare) and not over £500 per person really....any ideas? Am i asking too much?

Ive been to fuerteventura and the beaches there are the kinda thing im after...

    Fanks all

Northern Mallorca is a great place. Puerto Pollensa in particular is beautiful....and not a lager lout in sight. Only downside might be that the place is full of young families and older couples so not exactly a party town but great place to stay and you can always do the partying in other towns

Thanks sugar plum, ill go google it now - im not too concerned about the partying side of things, so Northern Mallorca sounds perfect

I find that a lot of European places used to be lovely, but have now descended into a brits-abroad hel1 holes. That said, there are still a number of small Greek islands which are absolutely lovely, perfect warm water, plenty of lovely fish to see, not to many fat pink white people getting drunk. The idea with greece is you get a flight to Athens or Corfu or something, get on a boat for a couple of hours to a smaller island, and then get on a smaller boat to an even smaller island. Never settle for somewhere with an airport or you'll be disappointed. Wouldn't particularly recommend crete, it's too open, too windy and the water is colder than you'd like.

I went on a very cheap holiday to Sharm El Sheikh (Egypt) a few years ago, 10 days flight and hotel for £180 or something. Though that was the year after it got bombed, and prices have risen by £100 or so since. Admittedly it was a very touristy area, but you just get the bus or something to somewhere you can escape the masses, and you're in an amazingly hot place with crazy scenery and awesome water, with fantastic underwater sights. And the ability to see some interesting stuff, the sphynx, awesome lagoons and crazy canyons.

Oh, and it's worth getting somewhere in perhaps a slighly worse place and saving some money, then renting a car (dunno if you need to be 25 though), as the only way to really find good beaches is to cruise the coast, and when you see something promising stop, climb down the cliffs and get to the beach.
