Unfortunately, I never was diagnosed with it in a reoccurring situation, I mainly was diagnosed with Thrush and ever since getting my pill swapped to the Implanon, I've not had many issues with Thrush.

Please rest assure that this has nothing to do with unprotected sex and or sex with your bf and its not his fault, you need to reassure him as well as it would be frustrating and difficult for him to deal with.

nformation I found regarding Prevention for BV is below:
To reduce the risk of recurrence, women should avoid practices that upset the natural bacterial balance in the vagina. It is best to avoid douching, using perfumed talcs and deodorants in the genital area and using bubble-bath, soap, bath salts and shampoo when taking a bath (sitting in water which contains these products can disturb the natural environment in the vagina). Having a male partner wear a condom may also be helpful as it is thought that semen may contribute to an imbalance in the bacteria in the vagina. Quitting smoking may also reduce recurrences.

    Hi there Caitieh,
I wouldnt worry about being diagnoised with BV, whilst its uncomfortable, all it is, is just an overgrowth of normal bacteria down in the sensitive parts - at the moment I am suffering from it. My doctor has given me the same medicine to take to clear it up, however, mines in tablet form. The worse part about BV is that it will come and go as it pleases, after one course of medication and a few months later its back.

I have stumbled across for my search for answers a book by the name of The V Book written by Elizabeth Stewart & Paula Spencer. This book is fantastic, I only wish I brought a copy. I recommend you buying it and reading as well as asking your GYN about it as well.

I also stumbled across another book which is The Vulvodynia Survival Guide: How to Overcome Painful Vaginal Symptoms & Enjoy an Active Lifestyle written by Howard I Glazer & Gae Rodke (2002), however really didnt find it that good.
