I am the oldest. One sibling. He lives away so he does not have to deal with it. However now he is trying for their first children, so he will have to be up against what I have all these years. He is like my father and able to detach himself without even speaking to her about how he has felt. I am the bad one since I have been more involved and saying NO to everything. He is in the military so when he comes home, he is the reason she will sober up for. It makes me very upset that she does that for him but not for my kids. That is why I said enough was enough. If you cannot get clean to have a relationship with your grandkids, then I have done all that I can do.
hi there my dad was the alki, but my mother seems very similar to yours. she doesnt drink much, but is quite happy to exaggerate, distort and plain lie to manipulate those around her. do you have any siblings? i think as a child i would have given my right hand for a parent, we just kept our heads down and tried to stay out of the way LOL!! take care christi (happy ending)
