For reading, I LOVE The Chronicles of Narnia. Not just the 3 they made into a movie either. It's not just for kids but also for adults especially if you enjoy reading "deeper" into things with the christian undertones. A good (tasteful) love story that is a personal favorite of mine is Mara of the Nile. I find myself reading it over and over. The spine is all worn out. I enjoyed the first Tristan & Isolde book (the other two are agonizing to force yourself through. Uhg) I love the classics so The Jungle Book by Rudyard Kipling is pretty awesome. An interesting autobiography would be Geisha, A Life by Mineko Iwasaki. The writer of "memoirs of a geisha" based his book VERY LOOSLY on this woman and took GREAT liberties with the story. I also LOVE The Taming of the Shrew. I always envisioned myself as Katarina when I was young. I finally got tamed Hope that helps. Check them out and see if they strike your fancy.
