Hi there! I just saw your forum & I'm replying back. I'm someone who has never had any kids but is using the IUD ParaGard. I'm 26 & I live in California & my doctor actually refered it to me. Told her that I was always having a hard time using BC's cuz I'd always forget. I got mine inserted Planned Parenthood. I've been using it for about almost 2 weeks now. JRHODES is right. We do warn you when they insert it because it depends if you can take a certain kind of pain. It may hurt you when they insert it. Alittle tip... Breath. Relax & try to take deep breaths. I don't know about taking a week off of work. But if you do get heavy cramps in the begining? Take a day off & take some Ibuprofin. It'll help. Other then that it's fine. Just beware of some time to time spottings. Read alot of forums too so you know what to expect.
I am 24 and do not plan to have children. I also live in Georgia and found a doctor to put in an IUD. My doctor is in the Atlanta area. I think most doctors in the metro area would be willing to do the procedure. Just to warn you, it hurts really bad when they insert it, but I think it is worth it. I would reccommend taking the day off work.
