  1. Life is not about suffering. Not unless we choose it (aside from situations created by total nut cases like Hitler, even then if they all would have risen up and said NO, he wouldn't have gotten far). It really comes down to how much are you willing to take? I know enough of you to be quite certain that there are some very good women who would consider themselves very fortunate to have you in their life. What is your time frame?

I thought I would stick it out and come through to other side but I finally had to cry uncle (and a lot of tears) but I'm going to be very happy because I'm going to make sure of it! You can chose to be too.
  2. Yeah I know. Known for a long time. Actions are what's lacking.
  3. Well you know science is always making wonderful improvements.

Really you just have to decide what you are willing to accept and what you want instead of what you have.
  4. Before or after pigs learn to fly?
  5. LOL. I hope so. This feels very positive.

Now I hope you see some positive changes - big ones!
Some times change is painful but it certainly is worth it - rather like giving birth.
  6. Well then, I guess the best I can offer is that he never gets tired of being black and blue from all the pinching.

Why am I sensing something very good for you. Probably because you deserve it.
  7. That is exactly what I am hoping will happen. We've been acquainted for about 17 years and I have always felt an attraction to him. We hadn't seen each other in over 10 years and it was still there. He's a little rough around the edges but has a good heart and doesn't seem to carry a lot of baggage. Instead of dumping it on others he takes the, I guess I helped screw it up, attitude, so he doesn't walk around hating his exs and such.

I think he's still pinching himself over our dating. He says never been with a woman like me before, I understand his work and have done some of it and I am the horniest woman he's ever been with. LOL. He's a sweetheart to me and I think we could create something very strong. Time will tell. He is certainly a breath of fresh air for me dispite the smoke.
  8. I know exactly what he feels. I've been there myself with liver damage from heavy drinking and with the last few years with my father in law's health. I fully understand how he feels and what he's going through.

But once he understands that he has a wonderful woman in his life who wants only the best for him and once he realizes he wants the same for you I think you just might find he'll take this to heart, his fears will be replaced by excitement about the future and you may just be suprised by what the future could very possibly hold.
  9. He has some liver damage from his heavy drinking days. I've talked with him aboiut taking milk thistle, which is the only thing proven clinically to help repair the liver. Smoking will slow or impair recovery and he is asthmatic. He believes that the smoking actually reduces his asthma reaction - nonsense physically, but for him mentally, that is the case. I've heard of other people's doctors doing essentially the same thing. They are requiring people to take responsibility for their health before they will do surgeries.

He has lung disease and is afraid that if he quits, as his lungs start to heal he will have to go on oxygen. We've talked that quitting will make ending up on oxygen less likely. He knows he's messed himself up and he had made up his mind that he just wasn't going to last past 60. Now he says, I've got him feeling like he could get healthy and be around a lot longer and I think it scares him a bit. Giving up a mindset, no matter how unhealthy, can be scary.
  10. Are you sure it's not more than just his back. I can understand some of the things will help (i.e. the weight loss) but the smoking and drinking would effect more than just the back. Is he telling you everything? (don't mean that to be a smart comment, just a concerned one)

If he's going this route, I'd tell him to stop taking tylenol and switch to advil. Also, if he drinks tea of any kind, he needs to stop that also. I'm saying this cause I'm getting the impression the doctor things there may be a liver issue that is starting to develop and he wants to get control of that right now also.
