They have no reason to talk about past relationships. What's the point? To have you feel sympathy for them? It's a new relationship, a new beginning... so shut the fudge up already about which girlfriend wronged you 15 years ago. I think it's a good approach... if you find someone who is stuck in the past, why waste time trying to get another man back into the present? Just move on.
I've run into it too many times. I've had so much ugly stuff from men. There has been some good too but a lot of that was a man/men trying to help me after some other man created a disaster. I don't think every man is a rapist, or will threaten me or stalk me or beat me. Why should I have to pay for whatever they've dealt with? I'm resolved not to let in into my life anymore. The next man who starts in about his ex, after any initial, this is why I am here in life stories, I will be gone so fast they will think they imagined me.
Could be a start... The brainstorming in the Clitical Thinking thread helped me understand it better, but how to change those harmful thought patterns that cause all the heartache... I still don't know.
