Hello,
I went through a Hysterectomy in August...2 months later I am having palpatations everyday, sometimes just for minutes and sometimes on and off all day. What is this, my doctors tell me it's my nerves, I did have tests and thank God it showed I'm o.k. so far. Is anyone haveing this same problem, once a palpatation starts, my nerves and fears makes it continue and then the mental fight to control my self, to calm down, and now Zanax... But I just need to know others are having these same symptoms and I'm not alone. Because the fear of not living is now on my mind making my condition worst. Amelia ![]()

If you read up on menopause it tells you that palpitations are common and probably worrying about it is only making things worse. Try to calm down as much as possible. I'm all for herbal remedies so I take a Valerian when I am stressed or two when I cannot sleep.

Heart palpatations are normal for perimenopause and menopause from what I've read. I have heart racing that started from perimenopause 5yrs. ago. If your heart rate goes up and stays like that for hours (like a constant pounding or like you're sprinting and you're just sitting still) talk to your doctor about getting on a low dose blood pressure medication that also controls heart rate. They told me it was all in my head but when my heart rate kept going up everytime I was in the doc's office they finally helped me with Atenolol. Good luck

Hi, I know exactly how you feel. I had a hysterectomy at 42 and a couple of years later I started having severe menopause symptioms which included palpitations, When they are severe they can be quite frightening. As I did not take HRT Itried every natural remedy under the sun for all the symptoms I was experiencing. However, My life changed when I went to see a chinese doctor who told me that due to the menopause my body chi was very lowand this caused my palpitations and other symptoms such as hot flushes, energy dips, bloating, dizziness, sleepless nights, weight gain etc. Since I have been receiving chinese herbs and acupunture I feel a different person and have now got my life back. They say that a surgical menopause is worse and I suppose that the body hasn,t had the time to make the normal adjustments. I don't think it is a mind over matter thing when one is dealing with the hormonal changes in the body. However, as we are all different there is not one cure for all, so it is a matter of trial and error.Maybe chinese medicine would work for you as it has for me.

I haven't gone through hysterectomy, but I'm peri-menopausal. I was experiencing frightening heart palpitations, and a nurse told me to knock off all caffeine and if that didn't help, see an acupuncturist and get some chinese herbs. My total decaffeination has worked wonders for me.

Palpitations are common during menopause. They are very unpleasant and scary but they won't last forever. I used to have skipped beats very often in my early forties. I am 47 now and I get them much more rarely now.

I know how you feel three months after back surgery i began having severe heart palpatations along with chest pain that sent me to the hospital..they keep me for hours doing blood work ect..nothing showed up but my blood pressure would also rise, this happened 4 times before i was sent for a stress test which landed me in the hospital for 4 days to get an heart cath..which thank god showed nothing..i was told that women my age 42 cause throw false-positive stress test and palpatations????..i'm still gettin follow up test because of these racing heart symptoms which are very scarey, hopefully this is due to perimenopause, but isen't there an easier way to check???
